Unity Church is a false religion

Charles Sherlock Fillmore (August 22, 1854 – July 5, 1948), born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to metaphysical interpretations of Biblical scripture. He married Myrtle in Clinton, Missouri on March 29, 1881 and the newlyweds moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where Charles established a real estate business with the brother-in-law of Nona Lovell Brooks, who was later to found the Church of Divine Science. In his later years, Fillmore felt so young that he thought that he might be physically immortal, as well as believing that he might be the reincarnation of Paul of Tarsus. Charles Fillmore was an ethical vegetarian who did not eat animal flesh.

Myrtle Fillmore died in 1931. Charles remarried in 1933 to Cora G. Dedrick who was a collaborator on his later writings. Charles Fillmore died in 1948, and the Unity School and Association of Unity Churches (founded as the Unity Ministers Association in 1934) continued, growing into a worldwide movement.

The Unity Church is rooted in the concepts of metaphysical or “divine” healing. Unity is considered a cult because of their beliefs and teachings that deviate significantly from the biblical truth about God, Jesus, Bible, sin and salvation. Heavily influenced by many other religions, Unity attempts to incorporate the preferred parts of all religions, cults, and beliefs. It’s by definition, a pick and mix religion not much different from any other new age cult. Additionally, it has many similarities with other cults arising in the mid-19th century such as Christian Science, although the teachings differ at various points.

The core Unity beliefs that make it a cult include (my comments below begin with GP):

UC: God is a principle, not a personal God, and the “force” of love in all people and things.

GP: This is a classic signature of a cult, the depersonalisation of God. It’s interesting the Fillmore makes such claims without offering any explanation to back up his principals. It’s not then surprising then to find the gaping hole he has left with the Bibles clear definition of God.

The Bible speaks of Him as the living God.

“By this you shall know that among you is the living God who without fail will drive out from before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites” (Joshua 3:10).

As a youth, David realized that the giant Goliath was defying “the living God” (1 Samuel 17:26).

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light (Psalms 36:9).

But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King (Jeremiah 10:10).

UC: Jesus the man represents the path toward a higher consciousness.

GP: No surprise there then.Fillmore, in order to inject his beliefs from a worldly, human view he must first humanise Jesus Christ. In this case he was made Jesus a symbol, a representation of a desired outcome and stripped away any reference as to the true reason of his existence. This is blasphemy, Jesus said ” Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. Rather than acknowledging salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, they turn this into self enlightenment (higher consciousness). This is the oldest lie in the Bible and millions are falling for even today “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. ” Genesis 3:5.

UC: Jesus the Christ is the universal love and wisdom within all of us – the perfection of consciousness – independent of religious beliefs.

GP: Another blatant contradiction. If you remove Jesus or change him then what was the point of his sacrifice for humanity? Fillmore clearly does not accept that Jesus Christ of the Bible and therefore makes up their own one to fit their needs.

UC: The Bible is not the inerrant Word of God nor the final authority.

GP: Fillmore denies the Bible as the final word of God, so does Islam, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons etc.

UC: The fall of man is spiritual amnesia from his evolution toward the divine correctable by changing thought patterns from negative to positive thoughts, which is the process of salvation.

GP: This is veiled Hinduism, the ignorance of one owns divinity and the Karmic cycle which is highly incompatible with the Word of God.

UC: There is no literal heaven or hell, but the heaven or hell created by a person’s thoughts, words, and actions.

GP: Everyone will exist eternally either in heaven or hell (Daniel 12:2,3; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28; Revelation 20:14,15).

UC: Reincarnation is the means by which believers are regenerated for eternity.

GP: This a denial of judgement for those outside of Jesus Christ. Fillmore is saying for those that follow him and his doctrine, they will receive eternal life. So not only has he replaced Jesus, he has become the replacement Jesus.

In conclusion, Fillmore has discarded the fundamental Christian beliefs in exchange for a new gospel. Galatians 1:6-9 (King James Version (KJV)).

About Gaz Parker

I was born with the ability to see spirit entities. I learned to ignore them for most of my life but during 2004 I had a kind of spiritual awakening so i thought. For years I questioned it until I asked God to show me what this is. God showed me the truth and I realised these spirits are evil, they are demons. Jesus never left me, he love me and he loves you too. My audio testimony can be found here. Contact me here: newagedeception@gmail.com

Nice assertions, I agree with them 100%.

Depersonalization of God and Jesus is a mainstay of occult and newage doctrines. This only serves to radically destroy the heierarchy of Heaven and to elevate the follower to the position of God himself. A complete blasphemy of Gods authority and the position given to Jesus on the throne to share it with His Father.

God made man in his own image, he didn’t make man a God to challenge his authority; I guess this is the mistake that Lucifer made in Heaven when he challenged God and the authority of his Chosen Son and was thrown to Earth to judge mankind and then get sent into destruction at the appointed time. People have mocked me for even having this belief but I see it so clearly in my head. We live on a planet enveloped in spiritual warfare and there are so many blind people walking around at present and also many others who only view the world through their Left Eye as Lucifer and his agents have sown their Righteous Eye shut. Awake and see the world with both eyes, and if your left eye offend you, pluck it out 😛

Also if we are made in Gods Image and we have an individual spirit and an individual Will then God also has an Individual nature and cannot be de-personalized without refuting his existence and Will. Newage doctrine is fully designed as an adversary to Abrahamic monotheistic logic and is designed to challenge his authority and to recruit Gods own creations into doing the same… and this deception seems to be working quite well, but I would like them to know their efforts are futile as God is all powerful and I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes when I answer to my creator.

Unity Church is going to be used as just another mechanism to effect the introducton of the Universal Religion of Anti-Christ, and its seeming only real oponent will be awake Christians who know their God and love his Son with all their hearts. Everyone else will go along with the Satan Recruitment which at first will be sold as Unification Of Religion for Peace and Prosperity, but it will be rotten to the core and mixed with all sorts of perverse doctrines. My mom goes to such a church and she believes this stuff. I was raised believing this stuff but no longer do.

Hi Sandra. Can you please tell more of your story? what made you stop believing in the unity church’s teachings? was it difficult to break away from the unity church? are there cases like mine where the unity church has directly or indirectly caused PFA’s custody battles and divorce? Is the unity church against or do they not like or are not receptive to catholics, baptists, lutherns, and other conservative christian religions?

I used to go to unity,I was searching and was introduced to this cult.Praise God my girl friend got me out by introducing me to the Holy Spirit after I became born again. I’m saved and healed in the name of Jesus by the blood that he shed on the cross for me.
Praise God who made heaven an Earth.

          • Dawn Marie…praise God for your friend! Great will be her reward for turning you toward Christ the Savior and away from Unity who doesn’t recognize Jesus as the Savior of all mankind and the ONLY pathway to God the Father. I’m so thankful you are saved by the blood of Jesus and snatched from the hands of Satan! And yes! Praise God who made heaven and earth!

    • Rev. Therese says:

Unity is Culturally Christian and Spiritually Unlimited. We believe that Jesus is our way-shower, elder brother and the ideation of God… as are each of us. We do believe that Heaven and Hell are states of consciousness (I am a bit in Hell reading your posts) and not geographical locatioins. We are not NEW AGE (outside of us) we are NEW THOUGHT… well, new if you think that what Jesus said is new. We are all the beloved of God. You and Me both!

      • Song says:

I agree with you Kathie! I, too, am apart of the Unity Movement. I think the reason why this post is putting our religion (Unity) down is because he just doesn’t agree with us. We are NEW THOUGHT. We embrace LOVE and SPIRITUAL AWAKENING. We are not wrong to believe that we don’t think that God decides whether you go to Heaven or Hell. We have a right to believe that God is within everyone and everything, and that God is good.
We are not “silly” or “satanic”. Unity is love. We believe that your thoughts create your actions, and your actions create your reality. Also, we don’t believe every single word in the bible. It was written years ago. We take teachings from it so that we can grow and learn to love.

Spread joy and peace. I love this Universe. Namaste.

I was raised in Unity and have a deep understanding of its strengths and failings , so did Charles Fillmore, he even said he reserved the right to be absolutely wrong and was not responsible for anyone else who believed him . I knew that Unity was a think tank that let you decide what was the Truth , every center was a bit different but we could always talk about the discovery. In High School I went to Young Life heard other sides of the scriptures and was baptized in the River because I knew Jesus in me would be a clearer guide than just finding someone else’s Christ Consciousness within. After High School I traveled to many spiritual groups , not because I was lost , but because I was driven to find out what was True , if Jesus was able to move and if the Holy Spirit was able to move in groups that were not boring …. Mostly the groups I found were not on the level , had no grounding or were directed by channelers who claimed to be Jesus , but were not Mr Fillmore said there was an actual devil , but he chose not to give him any power … I found a few Unity ministers in my travels that believed in Jesus , but they were of the old school I was raised in . Unity itself changed its direction and many centers became more Divine Mind and less Jesus heart …. I follow Jesus but I know about the Masonic and Illuminati influences now … I was given a way to see the beautiful and see also how the Devil lucifer has been able to manipulate and give miss information to everyone who is not Sealed in the forehead by Jesus Christ …. Unity was at first an exploration and adventure with Truth by Babies but as I grew in faith and in scripture and in experience I excepted the battle . When you realize that there is a wiring that Jesus is able to reconnect families to and that humans are like little frogs alone on a dangerous spiritual high way … You know you need Jesus , the Holy Spirit and the Bible , to save your life , you can not trust any one else .

        • Janet Verde says:

The ministers from Unity that I have known are more performers. They have lacked compassion and two that I know of broke up marriages by having an affair with a person in a faltering relationship. The church or ministries does nothing about it. So if Unity is love, it is superficial love.

          • Edith Williams says:

I completely agree with this. I attended Unity off and on for over 10 years (pretty regularly in the last couple of years) and finally realized what I was hearing there wasn’t what I was looking for (a spiritual awakening I believe). Unity service was “entertainment”; the “sermons” were mostly of the self-help variety, with a few of Jesus’ teachings worked into them. There was no real “Word of God” (Bible), although they recite that God is everywhere (metaphysically speaking). They actually say that the purpose of life is to be happy. Well, that’s great. It’s nice to be happy. I was blessed to find Calvary Chapel, a church actually preaching the word of God, acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Savior and study of the Bible for the Word and to prepare yourself for His return.
There’s a great book just out called “Blood on the Altar – The Coming War Between Christian Versus Christian” (Tom Horn et al) that talks about the Bible prophecy (yes, I believe in Bible prophecy) as it relates to the world today. It hits the nail on the head regarding the fundamental differences between the “mega” churches and the traditional “born-again” (if you will) Bible-based churches. It will be the “mega” churches with their celebrity pastors (Joel Osteen doesn’t even know his Bible!! (google it)) against the real Christian churches teaching the Bible and the Way. And the Way is through Jesus Christ. Find a location near you on Oct 5th to watch “Harvest America” (6 pm CT). http://www.harvestamerica.com — proclaiming the gospel across the nation. Please.

          • Rob Ginn says:

Thank you Janet for your post. My former best friend was raised Baptist but was influenced away from mainline Christianity by his friend who is not only a Unity minister based out of Pensacola Florida, but also has a radio talk show. I personally know this man and he is an absolute fraud. You can just look at a picture of him and see the devil in his eyes. He is very deceptive in his personality so it only follows that he would mislead anyone who would listen to him. I have run in to this devil in various internet locations and he is not honest in his dealings. My friend is on prozac and when I recently asked this “minister” for help in reaching out to my best friend, I received a phone call from one of his staff telling me that my friend was “all right” and that there was nothing wrong with him. A person on prozac is not “all right.” When I raised this point with the staff member, I was rudely hung up on. Not at all a way for a religious organization to behave. I am a degreed psychologist and have identified numerous personality disorders exhibited by my friend’s behavior. Prozac can only be prescribed by a licensed physician and ONLY if the prescriber feels it is justified. Neither this Unity practitioner nor his staff are licensed medical professionals or degreed psychologists and should NOT be dispensing any information to the contrary.

You are so right in your last statement. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave …” Yes Janet, Love gives! All Unity does is rob the souls of the lost. It does not give, it deceives and takes. Unity offers “peace” and “joy” in the present life at the cost of a Christ-less eternity. People who followed these devils are to be pitied. Can you imagine a “religion” that would be rude to a person who reaches out in sincere agape for another individual? What a sham, Shame on ALL of them. Whether anyone chooses to believe it or not “Anyone who offends one of my children, it would be better in the day of judgement that they were never born.”

            • Anne says:

You are a degreed psychologist, are you? Yet, you can look at someone’s picture and see the devil in his eyes?! Sounds like you are the one who is crazy.

              • Rob G says:

Well Anne, I did not attack you. Is this your idea of a religion of “love?” Have you ever looked in the face of a Downs Syndrome patient and not realized there was something different about them. May I leave you with the thought that there are none so blind as those who will not see. I merely point out phenotypes Anne, not genotypes.

            • Tom says:

Your post sounds hateful. It sounds more hateful and judgmental than how you categorize, “Unity”.

            • Vicky says:

I had to laugh at your comment that a person on prozac is not all right. Being on an anti-depressant does not mean you are not all right, anymore than using insulin means you are not all right. Our physical bodies sometimes have deficiencies. People who are diabetic do no produce enough insulin. People who are depressed do not produce enough serotonin or norepinephrine. Depression is a medical condition, controlled with medication. Unfortunately, it runs in the females of my family. I have been on anti-depressants for over 20 years. I am all right. I live a good, normal life. I am not “crazy”. I have to say, if you you called me and insisted that I was not all right, I would probably hang up on you too. Not because I am rude, but because I don’t believe you need to attend every argument you are invited to.

              • Rob Ginn says:

Hi Vicky, thank you so much for your thoughtful response. You seem to have a good handle not only on life experiences but on some aspects of the medical arts. Without being anal, I would like to address 2 issues of your response, and hopefully you won’t hang up on me.

First, I am a diabetic on insulin and I am an experienced clinician as well. I suspect we are arguing semantics over definition of the expression “all right.” If I may share with you a vivid example from my own family. My wife’s dear Aunt is a life-long paranoid schizophrenic. When she takes her medicine, she is “all right.” When she feels “all right”, she stops taking her medication because she feels she is all right, and within days we have to have her hospitalized because the voices come back and she hides in her bedroom closet in terror. I am intimately familiar with depression, so much so that I would like to highly recommend a book for you entitled “Happiness Is A Choice” authored by Drs. Frank Minirith and Paul Meier. It is a well documented clinical expose on depression, both from a medical and a Biblical perspective. I am sure with your experience you know full well what happens when a depressive person stops treatment – the depression returns, and if the serotonin levels in the brain are not corrected within 21 days, the depression becomes permanent, untreatable and is then referred to as “Clinical Depression.” Diabetes, like depression can be treated, but if treatment (medication) is withdrawn, symptoms of diabetes rears its ugly head. Am I all right? I APPEAR to be all right, but in fact I ONLY APPEAR to be all right when medicated.

I also take some exception to your use of the word “crazy.” Depression, as you are aware, is a MEDICAL condition affecting psychological behavior. There is no clinician that would ever refer to a depressive patient as “crazy.” Likewise, a person with a terminal illness may appear “all right”, but when in fact they may be moments away from transfer to the eternal care facility. When I used the expression “all right”, I am looking at it from a truly clinical perspective (objective evidence) devoid of situational appearance (subjective evidence). Medical records and patient charting is actually a science that uses a methodology called SOAP. The letters stand for Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan. First, the clinician gathers Subjective data, provided by the subject or their witnesses. Based on the subjective data, tests are ordered and the results of those “clinical” tests (Objective data) helps to develop the diagnosis (Assessment). Based on the assessment, the health care provider comes up with the plan of treatment (Plan). A lot of words here, but please bear with me. From my clinical perspective, when I hear someone is “all right”, I take it to mean that the individual is free of a medical condition. Thus, anyone with a medical condition, clinically speaking is not “all right” even though they appear to be.

In context, when I was told that my friend was “all right”, the person sharing those words with me meant that there was nothing wrong with him. In context he was suicidal, clearly not “all right”, and thus the prozac making him APPEAR all right. My head hurts!

I hope you appreciate my perspective as I appreciate yours. Let us not let words separate us, but yes, as a type “A” person, I do tend to attend every argument I am invited to. With that said, may God bless you and yours. Rob G.

Bad ministers can be at ANY kind of church. I’ve known some “stinkers” at born-again christian churches as well.

Ha, totally agree. Goes to show you nobody’s perfect in any spiritual community.
I’m a “New-Age”, “New-Thought”, “Christian (it means Christ-like, fyi) all mixed together, and I’m living in a dream thanks to finding the power of positive thinking and mixing it with my faith in the infinite power. No labels needed.

            • Ruth says:

My married Methodist minister tried to seduce me (and several others, it turns out) when I was a teenager. Catholic priests do inappropriate acts with youngsters. Sin knows no religion. I’m on a spiritual journey right now and have looked into Unity among others. I like the positive message of Unity, but found that I didn’t care for the church services. I like my son’s church and am looking for a similar non-denominational Christian church. I don’t like the dogma of some denominations (I’ve been baptized as a Methodist AND a Baptist). As a college educator and scientific thinker, I can’t believe that any religion holds “THE TRUTH” but I lean towards Christianity because of my upbringing (Protestant) and spiritual experiences I have had in my life.

You are talking about mere men/women. God bless your precious heart…did you expect that Unity or any church for that matter, would not have those who might have, could/would misstep, trespass, or succumb to acts of misguidance due to their man made “minister’ titles? There are negative stories after stories regarding the Catholic church for all kinds of inequities. Do you also hold them under the same magnification of light? Unless your love is complete thru and thru…you are no less the sameness of mirror than that which you judge as superficial on the other side. None of us are. Unless your/my/our/their house is made of other than glass…stones are highly not recommended.
            Blessings.

My apologies, please excuse the spelling errors in my post You see, it is my human-ness, in not paying closer attention to spell check, that makes it so 🙂

            • 1 Corinthians 1:18. For the message of the cross (Jesus’ death for our redemption) is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

            • Rob Ginn says:

I understand and appreciate both comments above. I would like to remind both posters of the verse “Ye shall know a tree by it’s fruit.” Since churches are made up of God’s imperfect people, there can be no “perfect church,” but Unity denies the deity of Christ and is therefore leading it’s followers in to eternal damnation. While many will recite “Judge not lest ye be judged,” I would like to remind those who take up that verse that we are to be discerning. We are taught to refrain from that which is evil, do that which is good. Knowing a tree by its fruit is discernment, NOT judging. One does not gather figs from thorns. I am not throwing stones, merely pointing out a given fact.

              • I so agree Rob! Every church is made up of imperfect people, and when someone falls short, it doesn’t make the whole church falls or it’s doctrine wrong. Unity’s doctrine makes them stand condemned before God. They have taken their salvation away from Jesus and put it on the power of their own minds. Because Charles Fillmore didn’t like many things the Bible says, he had “new thoughts” he came up with and changed the whole theme and message of the Bible…which is sinful man needed a Savior, Jesus was born, died on a cross and rose for our salvation. Our faith in Him gives us access to the Father when we put our trust in Him. Even though God says His word never changes and not to add or take away from the Bible, Fillmore ignored God and changed what didn’t fit him to what he WANTED to believe, and has led his followers down the wide path God says leads to destruction. He says take the narrow path that leads to life…which is Jesus Christ. Satan came to Fillmore masquerading as an angel of light just as God warns us he will do because he wants to kill, steal and destroy the works of God. There is a place he is going at the end of this life…Hell… And we go to our new life with God in the Heaven. His plan is to take everyone he can away from God and with him. He HATES God! He was the most beautiful angel, Lucifer, and God threw him from Heaven for trying to be above Him. Unity doesn’t believe there is Hell or Satan. They don’t believe there is a hereafter called Heaven or a God on a throne. How like Satan!…who God calls the father of lies. How sad that is for me. If I were a Unity member I doubt I would carry a Bible or ever read it…what would be the point since everything’s only stories or has been changed?? I don’t know if they do since very little of what they believe is supported by the Bible. Seems about the only thing I can agree with them on is that God is love and to love our neighbors. But…there’s so much more to God of the Bible. We can’t leave out that He is a just Judge also, and that we are ALL judged by what we have done with His Son Jesus Christ. Amen!… and be blessed as I am blessed within my Spirit when I speak about these things of God because they are Truth…witness of the Spirit. Thanks for your sharing.

                  Hi Linda,

Again, thank you for sharing. Curiously I came across 2 quotes recently that struck me as rather profound, each in their own right, but eerily powerful when combined, especially when thought of in the context of Unity and/or cults in general.

The first is from the 1600’s French mathematician and Philosopher Blaise Pascal with his assessment of a true living God. It roughly translates “… Believing in God, if He doesn’t exist, risks nothing. Not believing in God, if He does exist, risks everything.” How profound, yet simple and appropriate for followers of Unity. I suppose they would argue that their “god” is true since they believe in pantheism, but the truth is, pantheism denies the deity of God and Christ.

The second Quote is attributed to Adolf Hitler and loosely translates “Tell a big enough lie loud enough and often enough and people will begin to believe it.” Very sad, but also very true.

Take these two quotes or philosophies together and the impact is enormous. My heart truly goes out to these lost souls. Eternity is a very long time and to risk eternal suffering for a moment of misplaced peace on earth is the saddest thing of all. I try to keep all of life’s trials and tribulations in the perspective of the cross. Now Jesus, He had a bad day.

                  • Hi back Rob. I like those two quotes. Thank you. Before I retired I had a similar quote as your first one on my office wall behind me. It said “I would rather live my life believing there is a God and die to find there isn’t, than live my life believing there isn’t a God and die to find there is.” This could be misleading because many people say they believe in God. They don’t claim to be atheist, but yet their God is not always God as we know Him, but a different god (little g) than God of the Bible. But because my workplace was…still is…a Christian organization, people knew which God i was talking about. Recently I received a letter from a man in prison (I have a prison ministry) . He told me every time he was in my office for help he would read that sign and he quoted it word for word to me so I knew he was truthful. Thankful and blessed to say he has found God, out of prison and now trying to win everyone he can to the Lord…lots of his old friends need his Gospel message! God tells us just to plant seeds and leave the rest to Him…which is the ONLY reason I am taking part on this site. Unity people accuse Christians of being judgemental and wonder why we don’t live our lives the way we believe and let them do the same. They say they don’t tell us what to believe and we shouldn’t try to tell them. HOW COULD THEY UNDERSTAND since they believe all paths lead to God??…they can’t!! They can’t understand we are trying to rescue them unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to them, you and I will never be able to convince them, but we CAN plant seeds for God to use in His perfect timing for willing hearts. At the very end of this site if you scroll down you will see some comments and scriptures I’ve put there….lately only scriptures because I know MY words will only return void…God says HIS words NEVER will! I’m counting on it because God never lies! Bless you friend in Christ.

            • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

It’s true that all denominations can fall. My problem with Unity is that when Charles Fillmore founded it, he changed scriptures to “fit” what he chose to believe. I am aware that because of translations and new versions of the Bible there are differences in wording, however; the Gospel message of Jesus has not changed…unless it is a Bible written especially for a denomination to fit their doctrine. Jesus’ message is and has always been, “I am the way, the truth and the life,, NO ONE comes to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” Unity does not believe this. They do not preach that Jesus is the Savior. They only call Him their way-shower, that His only purpose for coming to earth was to show them how to love and live. He did teach those things, but his far greater purpose was to die on a cross and save man-kind from their sins. Any religion that changes the Gospel message of Christ is considered a cult by Christian churches.

You all are very misled. Unfortunately, my mom has been brainwashed by Unity for years. She raised me in a real church and that’s where I still go and where i raise my children at…to believe that Jesus is our savior. God is the only creator! How do you Unity people believe man came about? From monkeys? Tge universe is not in control of anything…the creator of the universe is. The only people who fall for the false doctrine of Unity are those that are lost, gullible, and confused. Get right with God, not your consciousness!

          • Rob Ginn says:

Hi Jac, I appreciate your zealous feelings about Unity, and I will NOT defend them. Unfortunately I feel you are like the apostle Peter cutting off the Roman Centurion’s ear in his zealous defense of our Lord. Believe me, if I could scare the Unity followers in to abandoning their ways, I would do it in a heart beat. There are some people who just aren’t going to understand that you come from a devout zeal of wanting to prevent them from a Christ-less eternity – the true measure of Christian love. Try to remember the Great Commission, but in so doing, realize Matthew 19:11 and John 6:60. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

          • AMEN Jac!! I loved what you said about the universe not being in control of anything. So true…He who created the universe still controls it. Unity acknowledges God is the Creator of everything but I guess He must have then gone into the trees, flowers, animals, us, etc, and no longer has control over anything, because they do not see Him as an entity any longer. I have often wondered who they pray to. Do you know? They can’t call themselves a Christian because that title is reserved for those who believe and accept that Jesus is the Savior of all mankind and the only way to the Father. Period!! I will step out on a limb and say that anyone who is the temple of the living God’s Holy Spirit, could not continue in Unity for long, because God is faithful to lead us into all truth and the witness of the Spirit will let a person KNOW! I went to a friend’s birthday party held at a Unity building…can’t bring myself to call them a church…and I sensed immediately upon reading their statement of belief that theses people are deceived by the biggest and best deceiver of mankind, Satan. That’s his job and he does it well. I say this with sadness, not pride or arrogance that I know the TRUTH. I wish every single in Unity would want to know the truth and ask God to show it to them in the Bible. If they will…HE WILL! He did it for me and I am nobody special…just a person seeking truth . Thank you for your insight.

          • Linda Jolene Garou says:

Amen Jac! Satan deceived Charles Fillmore and then used him as his tool to deceive others! To not believe in a literal Heaven or Hell and believe they only exist in a person’s mind is a lie straight from Satan! To think our mind’s “consciousness” controls which place we are puts the control in a person…instead of God. Only a deceived person could believe that lie! I cannot believe any person who has truly been born again, with the Holy Spirit living in them, could buy into Unity because God says the Holy Spirit will guide us into all Truth. I went to a friend’s birthday party at a Unity building where she attends (can’t bring myself to call it a church) and upon reading from a pamphlet their statement of faith, my spirit FELT something was WRONG. Why? Because they said NOTHING about Jesus as Savior. THEY LEFT OUT JESUS!! Upon learning more about Unity, I understood that the Holy Spirit is indeed faithful. Pray for your mom and Unity. Their souls are in danger! We Christians know that they will stand before God in Heaven and if they have denied His Son as their Lord and Savior, He will not allow them to enter. Their minds CANNOT get them into Heaven, not while they are on earth or when they are before Him. So sad for them. Happy for you that you have stood firm and raising your children to know Jesus! You will be rewarded. Blessings.

            • Jac says:

Thank you Linda. My mom needs a lot of prayer. This unity crap has caused me to no longer have her around me or my kids. I caught her telling my 5 yr old that because something happened to her that it was karma! This is a 5yr old mind you. I have struggled with honoring my parents lately but I have to protect my kids from that nonsense. And, yes, it is not a church…when I refer to it I say ‘that place my mom goes to’. I mean, they don’t carry Bibles at all, so not sure why they call themselves a church. My mom is constantly posting quotes from ‘the universe’ on her Facebook as if the universe is alive and in control. For all you unity people out there please look this verse up in the Old Testament: Deuteronomy 4:19. It says..And when you look up into the sky and see the sun moon and stars-all the forces of heaven-don’t be seduced into worshipping them. Unity people, there is your proof!

              • Linda Jolene Garou says:

You are welcome Jac! Your relationship with your mom is a hard place to be…trying to honor her as God says and yet protect your children. That takes a lot of prayer! I dislike that word karma sooooo much! I understand since she is “Unity” why your mom would use it. We Christians give God all power when we say what He told us in the Bible…”As a man soweth, so shall he reap”, because we know that is His spiritual law. Since they give themselves all power in their “consciousness” to control whether they are in heaven or hell in their mind, it makes sense that they also think they control circumstances in their lives by the ” karma energy” they send out, which then returns to them…good or bad. Therefore; it also makes sense why they believe they don’t need Jesus to save them…they save themselves! They are their own god! (small g) Wow! That just came to me and, how like Satan to deprive them of Jesus, unknowingly by them! I’m gonna step out on a limb here and just say what I believe and what is supported by the Bible… anyone who remains in Unity CANNOT be a born-again Christian! If the Holy Spirit resides in a person, EVERYTHING about what they believe and what goes on at their meetings would be offensive to the Holy Spirit and the person would FEEL it…just as He let me FEEL it when I was among them at the birthday party. Here is a scripture from the disciple John for you. He is explaining that some people have left Jesus’ teachings and the disciples. He calls them antichrists, which we know is anyone who doesn’t follow Christ. ” They went out from us, because they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have REMAINED with us, but their going showed that none of them belonged to us”…1 John 2:19. Very clear huh? I liked the scripture you gave! Here is a similarity one that supports it, “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served CREATED things RATHER THAN THE CREATOR—who is forever praised. Amen”…Romans1:25…and then God turned them over to a reprobate mind! If I were in your situation, I’m pretty sure what I would do. I would have to love and honor my mother from a distance. I WOULD NOT allow her to influence my children toward her way! It’s sad how “religion”…don’t like that word either…can divide us and put a wall between relationships that only God can tear down. Christianity, on the other hand, can unite us. I feel a kinship with you and we have never met, nor probably ever will! Where do you live btw? I live in Florida. Sorry! I never intended for this to be so long but so much to say to a fellow Christian who is in your situation. I understand your struggle. My husband divorced me after almost 31 yrs after I feel in love with Jesus and began LIVING the BIBLE instead of religion and things I had been taught. He no longer wanted a wife wife who didn’t believe as he did, I made him “uncomfortable” he said, but admitted what he believed wasn’t in the Bible. I call it “conviction”. I applaude you for not giving in to your mother…proof of the Holy Spirit in you! Jesus said He came to turn even families against each other, not that this was His goal…He just knew it would happen when one chooses Him and another won’t. I will pray for you and your mom. Only God could turn this around for you…and He can! Bless you!

People fear and judge. Jesus loved and was hated by the religious leaders of his time because they lived in fear and judgement. Wow. So much fear and judgement in these posts. People are in pain.

        • Linda says:

Yes, you have a “right,” we all have a “right” to believe whatever we choose to believe, God gives man that choice, but one is wrong if they don’t believe all of God’s word, which includes the reality of heaven and hell. Many are deceived and will only find out, accept the total truth of God’s word after it is too late, and that is a sad, sad thing. 😦

          • Jolene Garoutte says:

God did give us our own freewill choice because having children who are forced to follow Him would bring Him no pleasure. We can know it is His desire we follow Him though because the Bible tells us so and that He wants no one to perish. Charles Fillmore invented new thought to fit what he wanted to be true, an easy…feel good religion which replaces accountability to God. He took from and added to the Bible which God warns us not to do. Unity denies Jesus’ death as God’s plan of salvation and replaced it with their own ability to choose whether they go to Heaven or Hell. They do not honor Jesus’ finished work on the cross and therefore you will not see a cross on their buildings. Instead of Savior, Jesus is called “way shower”, meaning He came to show them only how to live and to love, but not to die on a cross for their sins. How sad God must be.

I have studied Unity in depth because I have a friend who got caught up in it at a time she needed to feel good about herself. Their beliefs make her feel more worthwhile in her mind by her own thinking. She believes the power is in herself and not in God or Jesus.

Unity believes the Bible has been handed down to us flawed and beyond taking it literally because of different interpretations by man through the years. I am one who believes God is not limited by man, that He is powerful and wise enough to be able to preserve His Gospel message to His people….and He has in the earliest Bible’s until today. Charles Fillmore and some others have completely changed the Gospel message of Jesus being our Savior and therefore do not qualify to be called Chritian. The word CHRISTian means you believe in Christ as your Savior and are born-again of the Holy Spirit to be able to enter Heaven. Unity doesn’t believe this, in fact they don’t believe in a literal Heaven or Hell, nor to they believe in Satan. When God said the way(Jesus) is narrow and few find it, He meant it. The Bible calls Satan the father of lies and a deceiver. How happy he is that Charles Fillmore “invented” a “new thought” religion which leaves out Jesus as the Savior of mankind.

      • Dennis Stewart says:

I hope you like hot climates, you sound like you’ll be spending eternity in one.

        • Yes Dennis, it’s sad and blasphemous for Unity to say Jesus was a way-shower and our elder brother, when He is indeed our Messiah. The Whole THEME of the Bible points to this message, even though translations vary in their wording. The Bible is God’s Living Word. Charles Fillmore didn’t like there being a hell or that Satan is a real entity, among other Truths, so in 1889 he wrote his own doctrine based on what he WANTED to believe, calling scriptures he didn’t like “allegories”. He exchanged Bible truths for lies…straight from the master of lies. NOBODY has that right! The Bible has stood through the centuries. Why in 1889 did we need a “new thought” when God says He changes not? The Dead Sea scrolls supported Bible facts. They weren’t lost scriptures because how can all-knowing God, who spoke everything known to us into existence, lose anything? I believe God had them be discovered to help some people who doubt the Bible is real, to believe and be saved. Josh McDowell is a Christian writer, but wasn’t always. He was a non-believing scientist who set out, using Bible facts, to prove the Bible is a fake. Everything he proved scientifically and historically aligned with the Bible and he realized Jesus was indeed the Savior of mankind and was born-again of the Holy Spirit. AMEN! I do not serve God out of fear…but out of love. I am so thankful for all He did and has done for me. if you knew me, you would know it’s been a lot. I feel His love, His presence, His JOY in my heart every day. He has given me peace in knowing my life is in his hands…not my own. I am also THANKFUL He is in charge of heaven and hell, that they are not of my own making by my thoughts. Lol! Even if we are on the same narrow path(Jesus) our journeys are quite different. What are some of your thoughts?

      • SCOTT PARKISON says:

HEAVEN AND HELL ARE REAL PLACES AND JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN AND THE BIBLE IS THE ONLY BOOK WE SHOULD FOLLOW…IT IS GODS TRUE WORD AND AS FOR THIS CULT CALLED UNITY YOU ARE BLASPHEMING THE LORD AND FALSELY CORRUPTING PEOPLES MINDS…REINCARNATION IS NOT REAL AS WE ARE ONE SOUL FROM ONE BODY AND WE BELONG TO GOD THE FATHER AND SAVED ONLY BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST!!!

    • Dear Believer, I realize this was an old post but I just recently have looked into Unity beliefs because a friend attends there and I was curious about some of her comments about homosexuality and her church accepting all religious beliefs. Hope you see this as I want you to know I totally agree with you! Charles Fillmore CHANGED the whole Gospel message of Jesus’ reason for coming to earth. It is BLASPHAMY to call Him a way-shower and an elder brother and to say that we can attain His status of goodness, ironically just what Lucifer wanted to do in heaven. It didn’t work for Satan and it won’t work for Unity. There are many changes we can make without consequences, but changing God’s Word isn’t one of them! We are warned about that!! I do understand Satan has come as an angel of light and used Charles Fillmore to believe we needed a “new thought” in 1889 and that the Gospel message of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, coming down through the centuries from the early churches, was no longer necessary. As I see it, common sense should send up red flags, but then the Bible does say he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, seeming innocent and gentle while leading these people down the wide path by a feel good, positive thinking new age deception. If every person will ask God for His Truth and then read their Bible, He will be faithful to reveal Truth to them and they will not be victims of Satan’s deceptions. Amen! I hope I hear back from you, my sister in Christ.

    • Tragically, these various deviants from God’s truth results in “My people perish for lack of knowledge.”

      • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

Robert, I have studied Unity’s beliefs in depth because a friend goes there and I wanted to know how to witness to her using the Bible. That went over like a lead balloon! She informed me she knows I take the Bible literally but she doesn’t and became defensive. If I can’t base my witnessing on the Bible, what can I do? God told me to close my lips and pray for her only. She is on my daily prayer list. She is a great lady…only deceived. When Charles Fillmore made the choice to “change” God’s Word (as if he could!) because of things in the Bible he didn’t like, he became Satan’s PUPPET! Satan was able to fill Fillmore’s mind with all kinds of lies. God says Satan is the father of lies, and he has led many intelligent, well-meaning people down that broad path to destruction. God says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death…Proverbs14-12. We must pray harder for Unity! They have bought into Satan’s lies…using Fillmore, that Jesus was only a way-shower, when God says He is THE WAY and that no one can come to the Father except by Him. No matter how good, how forgiving, how peaceful or how loving they say they are because Jesus taught them to be (which He DID teach those things), God will not allow them entrance into Heaven if they have denied His Son as their Lord and Savior. Period. Unity has replaced God’s plan of salvation and placed the way upon themselves. Since Unity does not believe in a literal Heaven or Hell, they say they are places in their mind only. Which place they are depends upon their state of mind according to their consciousness, and that can change back and forth several times a day depending on how they feel. Except deceived by Satan, NO ONE could believe such a ridiculous lie straight from him! He hates God because God threw him down from Heaven for wanting to be over Him in power…Isaiah 14:12-15. The only way Satan can get revenge is by taking people away from God! He doesn’t want people because he loves thejm, he just hates to be defeated by God. I pray Unity will read the Bible and ask God for Truth. I pray Unity will come to understand how crafty Satan is. Most important, I pray they will exchange the title Charles Fillmore gave Jesus…way-shower…for the title God gave Him and which He deserves…THE WAY!!! In Truth and for His sake. Love and blessings!

I have a family member who is studying to be a minister in this Church.. This organization’s beliefs remind me of a trait of hers, which is if you say something, that makes it true. i worry about her. She has such low self esteem (a dad issue) and tends to follow anyone that makes her feel better about herself. What really got me was that they (Unity) get their information about Jesus from the Bible, the same one that says it is the son of God, etc. And that they decided to change the meaning of the word, “Christ”. I read (sorry, I didn’t’ write down the source “Unity would say that we read the Bible intuitively rather than analytically. If something doesn’t speak to you, it can be left behind. Or it can be reinterpreted metaphysically, which adds a new layer of meaning to Bible passages that we know cannot be literally true. ” This really scares me! I can not help but wonder why, if Jesus was divine and therefore, could resurrect himself, he didn’t do that before he was tortured and crucified. My daughter said eventually, through searching for the truth, being good, etc., and through various lives (reincarnation), humans too can become divine and resurrect themselves. Such incredible self deception.

    • Paula Craig says:

You will have to consider the fact that each and every person, or soul is not on the same journey on their path way to God. Why do you think there is so many different religions and believes in this world. I would say you need to have a more open mind. Neither God nor Jesus are judgemental and neither should you.

      • Kate says:

Reread this; found the site when looking for an article. Reread my comments and yours. I do not see where you are saying I am judging. I stated facts and made a (what i intended to be a logical one) comment re: Jesus and resurrecting himself. Said several beliefs scare me. They do, mostly for my daughter’s sake. And stated, “such incredible self deception”. That comment was not meant to be mean, labeling or the like. It is my honest opinion or can I not state my opinion without being “judged”, which you said I should not do.

    • Marcia Bush says:

I believe in the Unity principals, and they absolutely pass on Jesus’ teachings. There are plenty of people on this earth that have been taught otherwise and, maybe, have not heard of Jesus, or not to the extent to change their “taught” beliefs. Are you going to tell me that ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WENT TO HELL? Can you tell me why an “ever forgiving father” would send any child to hell? I don’t know, sometimes I think the ‘cult’ are those that believe in an outside entity – WE are God’s instruments… God is the spirit within us and is what links us… I do not believe God is an entity that is pulling strings like we are marionettes… our choices are everything in the progress, or not, of our lives. Myrtle Filmore is the one who started “Silent Unity” – Charles joined in way later.. Myrtle cured herself of tuberculosis with the belief Jesus was sitting right next to her – she had a seat at the table for him. She was totally immersed in his words. It is a shame, Unity is ‘marketing’ towards being a ‘spiritual’ community… I am sorry about that. You know, haters hate with conviction, we need to carry on the truths of the Bible with convictions. I don’t believe Unity is evil by any means. Just too ‘counseling’ and to little ‘bible teaching’. Maybe a ‘supplement’ to a church with more conviction?

Unlike the Quoran the bible is inspired by the holy spirit. What’s so unique about the Bible is its prophesies come true and many more are now coming to pass. For example, the book of revelation talks about a time when there will be a one world government, a one world religion, a one world currency under a one world leader. This is coming to pass and we are now heading into the new world order.

I do believe a place such as hell does exist just not in the same sense you do. I do NOT nor will I ever believe God to be anything less than perfect. Fear and hate are Not perfect. Love is. I have never felt closer to God or Jesus as I have through Unity. My life has been blessed for I have affirmed a positive outlook and a grateful attitude for what God has blessed me with. Please do not judge a religion based on little research and not personal experience. God’s love radiates in our home. Jesus is our savior because wepractice his teachings. Thru him we will get to God. As it says “why do you question the speckle in thy brothers eye…remove the plank first”. Unity teaches love, compassion, peace. Not self righteousness as many others do. This is why it has worked for us. We live our lives in peace, love, empathy, compassion. You’d be surprised how much better and less stressful that feels. When we pray we give thanks for the life he gave us and the love he enfolds us in. We release our worries and fears over to him and trust that he will lead us the right way. Yes, even the lords prayer we say. “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. Others pray this and its accepted. Unity prays it and we want to be Gods?? I think not. We praise God for he is all mighty and omnipotent. God bless and lots of love

I believed in reincarnation and thought it an imaginative explanation for some spiritual observations till It was told to me in a dream , ” if there ever was a wheel of Reincarnation it is done now this is your last life .” So I reconfigured my ideas and found I lined up with the history of mankind better, Fillmore was not dogmatic about that anyway yet many in Unity are ….. I Saw the New Noah Movie and read the Book of Enoch where some very apt descriptions of what Man was like before the Flood can be found and then I did more research about The Free Masons and their influence on the New age and New Thought movements . I thought to share here what I found to be true ……

…What is this Divine Spark? Who sent it and why does it matter?

In studying free Masons I found they got this Spark thing From the Gnostics, and that Free Masons believe they have the Divine spark within them from the very beginning …. so also do the other groups they have encouraged , including Mormons , Unity, Science of Mind ,Religious Science and The illuminati it self .

But what need do they then of a Savior to save them from themselves and their sins , if they are already divine sparks of God?

This one Gnostic concept separates them, and identifies them with pre Flood cultures and Tower of Babel gatherers. This (and other distinctions not covered here) separates them from a true Jesus , and makes them susceptible to all fallen angel influences . This Spark of the Divine within you… is a tricky thing to discern , because Jesus in your Heart is also , if you asked him in to your heart and being … A Divine Spark and The teaching and loving Holy Spirit works with you in this restorative new life as well . The Messianic Jew or Completed Jew who discovers that Jesus was and is the long awaited Messiah is awakened or Born again into a whole new world of spiritual and physical life as they let Yeshua the Son of God compete their scriptures and give them the inner awakening that we all could use.

I am saying that this Divine spark sent from God must be understood by all who claim to have it. Does having the Divine Spark within you cleanse your soul and spirit from ever having sinned , or keep you perfect from sinning , or keep you from thinking you are God? Does it allow you to repent and confess your imperfect mistakes and get grace and forgiveness?
Perhaps you have been told that having this Divine spark within you makes you God , or a part of God visible and That Jesus was just a son or Child of God who woke up to that Knowledge just like you did ..or could ..with just a bit more Knowledge?
Man has been tempted with being God , since the Adam and Eve story .. And technology is tempting us again – to say we are better collectively than God . we are so smart that we do not need our maker nor His Son to take leadership over us even from the inside of our wicked hearts..We can now control our DNA , colonize the stars and planets and make war so violent that it destroys the planet we live on . With our minds we can imagine evil and great beauty .. All for us ..and our vanity .

God our Creator , He who made us in His own image and likeness is not slow , and is watching this , our little drama …as it unfolds … You are not God or A god , or even a child of God, by nature … There is a point of repenting and being born anew …and only after seeing corruption, can you understand perfection , goodness and Light is not self created … It Comes from Direct , honest and fearful connection and contact with your Creator , the Father God and His Son. This is the true enlightenment .
You might be fooled by the Fallen angels who have the power to deceive and even use the powers of your own salvation against you to forget God and His Son completely , but God loves you and is willing to sacrifice Everything including his own life at any moment for you on a permanent Cross .. As he did, as a sign of His love for you to all generations of Man thru his Son Jesus … He Died and resurrected
In the Flesh so that we could also have a living hope …and true life of Love and freedom .
I ponder this enlightenment that brings light to the mind and dreams to the soul, is it from God or is it more Fallen angel manipulation ? Would a life without revelation and vision be worth living ? I think that God gave us his inspiration and the Holy Spirit at this time- to … just overshadow us with enlightenment from Him ,

Actually, those Revelations passages pertain to the rise of Nero. In Hebrew numerology, Nero is “666”. Nero murdered Christians by the thousands and attempted to wipe them out completely. Church history 🙂

Unity teaches love. Not self righteousness. God is love.

      • Gaz Parker says:

Charles Fillmore wrote his own bible because he despised the word of God.

        • Claudia Sandoval says:

He did not write his own bible. Sorry you feel this way. My question is why put down a group of people if you don’t agree? Live and let live. If its wrong for you than great keep following what you do. If we are in such dis repair than let that be on our shoulders. No need to worry bout us. We do follow christ. We know and have felt Gods love. Positive affirmations about Gods love and what trully matters in life is what we believe. Being spiritual is not a bad thing. Yet so many ‘Christians’ are threatened by it. Why? Unity doesn’t question or hate other religions. If one is at peace with their relationship with God and follow Christ’s teachings than they would love ALL people as they love themselves. Blessings!

        • Rev. Therese says:

Gax — Mr. Fillmore wrote the Metaphysical BIBLE dictionary — wherein places and people are explained from the root of the word… Mr. Fillmore and all of us in UNITY love the word of God and believe that we each get to figure out what that means.

    • Rev. Therese says:

Agreed! God is LOVE — a verb! Unity’s focus is on how Jesus lived his live… putting feet to his faith.

  5. Carol says:

I grew up in the Unity Church and thought everything was hunkydory……until I got saved in 1979. Unity had always SEEMED Christian, the way the services were conducted, etc. But like most cults, the true agenda is rarely revealed to the rank and file members. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I went back to the Unity Church of my youth. It only took one Sunday to realize that something was very wrong here. With the Holy Spirit having revealed the truth of the Gospel to my heart, I recognized the lie immediately. I wanted to stand up and shout “This is not the Truth ! Run to Jesus!”. I eventually was lead to a Bible believing, Gospel preaching church and the Lord surrounded me in my life with surrendered Christians who helped me and discipled me in my early walk.
I recommend a tract called “The Spirit of Error, The Spirit of Truth” which shows how other “religions” respond to Bible Truths such as the nature of God and Salvation, heaven and hell, etc. It has recently been expanded to include Unity and other New Age type churches.
I would also like to admonish all Christian congregations to police yourselves and make sure you have your priorities straight when dealing with new people who come to your church. One of the reasons I wound up at Unity was because my mother grew weary of the backbiting, gossiping and superfluous things (like what so in so is wearing and how much did it cost) that chased her right into the arms of an “accepting” church.
Keep your eyes on Jesus always!

    • cs says:

May I ask carol what in your opinion is their agenda. You claimed they had one which you discovered after you were saved. What was it exactly. Justccurious
      Thanks

    • Tom says:

I agree. I am now 77 years old and came very close to becoming a Unity minister after much study at Unity Village in Missouri until I became “born again.” The Unity Church is not following ALL of the WORD of God. Just some of it that seems right to them.

      • Julianne says:

If we follow ALL the word of God, we will have to start stoning people to death for eating shrimp, wearing cloth made of blended fabric, getting a tattoo, or working on Saturday.

        • not so quickly says:

you will have to study ALL the scripture to find out that Mosaic law is given to the Jews. All mankind will be ‘weighted’ by the standards of the 10 commandments (the original ones, find them in noncatholic sources). But the jews were and are ‘judged’ by a higher standard and more law applies to them. To flip it back to you. It is written: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, and again it is written: until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

if you think it is right for you to go by some of the scripture because of the above, you are actually going against the scripture. By your fruits we will know you. Bring forth your fruit.

        • Linda Jolene Garou says:

Not true Julianne…those things were in OLD Testament times! Things changed with Jesus! We are no longer under Old Testament Jewish law. You will find in the NEW Testament that Jesus is now our High Priest who intercedes to His Father DAILY on our behalf, in place of a priest interceding for sins once a year. Praises to God!! Jesus brought in grace and forgiveness when we repent. God now says EVERYTHING He created is good if received with thanksgiving, and NOTHING is to be rejected…1Tim 4:4-5. Yes we may fail to KEEP all of God’s Word at all times because of our humanness, but…it is not hard to BELIEVE all of God’s word! The Bible is crystal clear in the Old Testament that God is going to send a Savior, and crystal clear in the New that He did! As long as we know, believe and accept that He did, we are on the right path. If we are willing to let Him, the Holy Spirit will lead us into ALL Truth. We then have the choice of following those Truths or picking what “fits” and throwing out what doesn’t. Unity has chosen Jesus only for His teachings and thrown out the WHOLE of who He is…Teacher AND Savior. Why have they done this?? Because they are deceived by Satan…plain and simple. He has accomplished his goal, to take the ONLY way of salvation and Heaven away from Jesus in Unity’s minds and change it to be up to them in their “consciousness”. God says He changes not, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He did not suddenly change His Word for Charles Fillmore. The Gospel message of Christ Jesus is still the same as it has been through centuries, passed down by God’s Word and our ancestors. AMEN!!

    • Gaz Parker says:

      Thank you for your support.

      • Claudia Sandoval says:

Funny I responded recently about how wonderful Jesus and unity have been for my life and how much closer we are to God, yet since you monitor what goes on here I can see how that would be threatening.
God bless and hopefully one day people like you will actually follow Jesus’s teachings and love others as God loves us. Instead of questioning a loving, peaceful, kind, God centered church like Unity

        • Gaz Parker says:

          Hi Claudia,

I make no appologies for defending the faith however this is not a personal attack on you. The unity church and Jesus Christ (of the bibile) are completely incompatible. It is so important then that we always test these doctrines and more importantly, the source of such beliefs, the spirits themselves. 1 Jogn 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

          Here’s something to think out:
          1) If as a youth, David realised that the giant Goliath was defying “the living God” (1 Samuel 17:26) then what makes Filmore’s ideolgy an authority on the bible?

          2) The UC claim that Jesus the ‘man represents’ is the path toward a higher consciousness meaning self divinity. The term ‘higher consciousness’ is synonymous with Blavaski, Bailey, Bessant and other lucifarians who define this as achieving inner or self god hood. If Filmores teachings on the persuit of godhood are correct then is the Bible therefore Genesis 3.5 must be wrong? “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Or perhaps all of these aswell?

“there is no one like Yahweh our God.” Exodus 8:10
“Yahweh, He is God; there is no other besides Him.” Deuteronomy 4:35
“Yahweh, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.” Deuteronomy 4:39
“See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me” Deuteronomy 32:39
“Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one [echad]!” Deuteronomy 6:4
“You are great, O Lord God; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You” 2 Samuel 7:22

This original post makes some bold statements about the UC, what part or parts of this (or this response) is untrue?

          • Meanwhile, as you demonize a benign, inclusive understanding of the example of Yeshua–Islam is taking over the world and Christians are being exterminated by Muslims! You don’t have the courage to take THAT on, so you self-righteously attack something that would never attack in return… Self righteous-condemning people like you are what is driving people away from Christianity and why the Secular socialists attack Christianity so vehemently in the USA!

Matthew 7:5–Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

My wife and I are both blind. I am christian but she has gotten sucked into the unity thing which I believe has caused our divorce PFA and other bad things. Her family is also involved in this unity stuff. I hope she wakes up and comes back to christianity and unity gets shut down real soon. Unity is bad for the world.

    • June says:

Since you’re blind you’ll never get to read this but I digress, your cliche backwards Christian faith that attempts to usurp and ‘shut down’ those paths which are important to others is sick and selfish. You’re no different from a bully in high school who picks on people for being different. You lack vision my friend, both literally and metaphorically.

      • cs says:

Haha. Very good reply June. A church cannot cause a divorce. And I know Unity doesn’t advocate families being torn apart. I think his ex found her way to God and her purpose in this universe. He didn’t like it. Now he blames the church instead of any other underlying issues they had.

    • JIll says:

I’m sorry you went through that experience, I recently had a bad experience with them, false lies about me, shunning, and threats made to me threatening to call police, all to tear down who I am about myself, evil and cruel, your not allowed to be who you are, they manipulate you with weaknesses, and your past, and they can be hypocrites, breaking spiritual laws about living for today. It’s the people who go there, and run the place, not necessarily the religion, although, based on metaphysics, they will start using control tactics, not good. CULT is my experience of this particular church I attended I felt held back, not ever asked to do anything, and when I tried to jump in, they tried to keep me out, isolation.

  10. Justin says:

According to Unity, you have no number of chances to accomplish perfection. According to Christianity, you only have this one chance to accept Christ, who is… Jesus, as your Lord & Savior. If you believe Christianity is the only correct religion & Unity ends up being correct you’ll still have another chance to accomplish perfection. If you believe Unity is the correct religion & Christianity ends up being correct you’ll go to the place… called hell, be there for eternity, & NEVER… get another chance to accept Christ. You’re better Saved than sorry.

By the way, in the Bible we’re told that pride is why people do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior. If Unity is correct & we are all a god, is our placement in life not higher than what it is if we are all just humans who are depending on a god? Your pride prefers for your placement in life to be as high as it can, doesn’t it? According to the Bible a person has to let go of their pride to say that Jesus is Christ & that accepting Him as your Lord & Savior is the only way a person can receive eternal life. Like a young adult who, at too young of an age, has moved out of their parents’ house due to the pride that their holding onto, the more pride your holding onto the harder it is for you to let go of it as well as realize you need to let go of it.

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus… is Lord,” & believe in your heart God… raised Him from the dead you will be Saved.

Justin: “According to Unity, you have no number of chances to accomplish perfection. According to Christianity, you only have this one chance to accept Christ, who is… Jesus, as your Lord & Savior. ”

GP: I wouldn’t exactly call this ‘chance’, the Word of God tells us that those who have been saved (Romans 10:9 is just one of many verses that validate this) will not perish and receive everlasting life, they will also receive new bodies. You would be amazed at how many times this is mentioned in the Bible,

Chris White nails the validition of the Bible for those with ears to hear:

It has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him. (1 John 3:2)

Our present body is only a “tent” which we will put aside. 2 Co 5:1-3, 2 Pet 1:13-14
God, through Christ, will deliver us from this present “body of death” (which is the sinful nature). Rom 7:20-25
God has prepared us for the purpose of being clothed with our heavenly body. 2 Cor 5:4-5
Although we do not know exactly what our new bodies will be like, we know that they will be like Jesus. 1 John 3:2-3

We will be changed instantaneously when we are raised. 1 Cor 15:51-53
Each of us will have a unique body as God determines, just as a single seed produces its own unique plant. 1 Cor 15:35-58 (Think about how much more grandeur a plant is than its seed! See also Mk 4:30-32, 1 Pe 1:22-23)

In his revelation, John describes Jesus as having eyes like fire, feet like fine brass, voice like many waters, and a countenance like the sun shining in its strength. Re 1:13-18, Re 19:11-16
Christ’s resurrected body had flesh and bones and was able to eat. Lk 24:36-43

      OUR FUTURE GLORIOUS BODY
Although we do not know exactly what our new bodies will be like, we know that they will be like His Christ’s glorious body. 1 John 3:2-3 (See Our Lord’s Glorious Body)

      OUR PROPER RESPONSE
We should earnestly desire to be clothed in our heavenly bodies. 2 Co 5:1-5

Therefore, we should make it our goal to please God. 2 Co 5:6-11
We should eagerly wait with perseverance for the redemption of our bodies, even though we cannot see them now. Ro 8:23-25
We should seek insight and desire to lead others to God so that they, too, can be partake in God’s righteousness. Dan 12:2-3
We should keep our focus on the better resurrection – even to the point of receiving torture. Heb 11:35
We should be ready to suffer for Christ. Ro 8:16-20
We should love one another fervently with a pure heart. 1 Pe 1:22-23 (See Love)
We should stand firm, holding on to what we have been taught. 2 Th 2:14-15
Because we will have incorruptible, glorified, powerful and spiritual bodies, we should be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor 15:35-58
We should fear the Lord and meditate on His name. Mal 3:16-17
We should reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive to God and not let sin reign in our mortal body but rather live to God. Ro 6:6-12

GP : “Christianity is faith based in that its not a works based belief, you don’t have to go to a building or follow a guru in order to receive salvation. You mention the word ‘chance’ a lot, it suggests uncertainty and hope. This reminds me of the wise and foolish builders of Matthew 7:24-27.”

      New International Version (NIV)

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Justin “By the way, in the Bible we’re told that pride is why people do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior. If Unity is correct & we are all a god, is our placement in life not higher than what it is if we are all just humans who are depending on a god? GP: “People in general do not accept Jesus Christ because of their sin nature, pride does play a part in this rebellion but there are many other aspects to this condition. You misunderstand the whole reason why people accept Jesus as their Lord and saviour and I have numerous real life examples of this including my own testimony out of the occult. You could also try taking a look at Laura Maxwells videos too. I would also strongly suggest listening to archive of set the captives free with Lynn Dickie. So keep an open mind and actually open up the Bible and begin to read it, you will be amazed at the accuracy of the many already fulfilled prophecies that scatter this all powerful supernatural book.

      1 Peter 1:3-9
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

      Revelation 19:1 (#20o f 20 Bible Verses about Salvation)

Ah so you’re the sort who lives your life in fear of hell. Good luck with that. To me it’s like they say in ‘Rent’, “You learn to love or live in fear.” Just because someone told you hell is a place you go to doesn’t mean it’s real. You say you have this one chance to accept Jesus. I say you have this one life to live. Live it bro.

      • cs says:

Very true. Religion and hell were put there as a way to control the masses with fear. And sadly it has taken away our true purpose in life which is to love. That is all Jesus talked about. He never mentioned “hell”. Yet the man they claim to love (Jesus), they won’t live by his teachings. All they want to do is cry and say boohoo he died for me. Jesus himself never said “I will die for you so you better be grateful you infedils!” Live life with love and gratitude and acknowledge a loving spirit of the universe. God is not a being waiting beyond the clouds. God is omnipotent and the universe. Namaste!

Perhaps one should research more on the true intent and motivation of Emperor Constantine. The Bible was not handed to mankind by God, nor was it dictated to human stenographers by God. It has nothing to do with God. In actuality, the Bible was VOTED to be the word of God by a group of men during the 4th century. Emperor Constantine, who was Roman Emperor from 306 CE until his death in 337 CE, used what motivates many to action – MONEY! He offered the various Church leaders money to agree upon a single canon that would be used by all Christians as the word of God. The Church leaders gathered together at the Council of Nicaea and voted the “word of God” into existence.

Theyre a cult because they dont believe everything they’re told in the bible :/ that’s not very convincing. I know nothing of this religion, I dont have one. But I know people, specifically religious people. And I know some (not all) Christians can be very hateful when people don’t believe what they do, which is why I disagree with it. And like I said, I’ve never heard of this religion, but to meee it sounds like Christianity without all the hate. It actually sounds pretty interesting, especially to somebody who’s always questioned why such a loving god would send me to a hot gut wrenching place such as hell, just because I’ve done some wrong. And I’ve read the bible, and it doesn’t take as much as you’d think. Anybody know where I could read more about this? That will actually tell me info, not pissed off Christians just talking?

    • Josh Kennedy says:

god does not send people to hell. people send themselves to hell. you’re right god sends no-one to hell.

      • Claud says:

        Josh,
Unity welcomes all religions. It’s not a religion for everyone. And we do not recruit. Its probably one of few that don’t. We are secure in our faith and love all. I find it sad that there are people out there that want to hurt it. Can you imagine a world where we all love one another? Crazy huh? 😉
        Blessings.

        • Josh Kennedy says:

no…can’t imagine a world where everyone loves one another, because that’s not how this world is because we are fallen human beings.

        • Ross says:

Hello, Claud, I also attend a Unity Church and love it. It’s true that Unity does not go out recruit people, and we are secure in our faith and love for others because Jesus (Yeshua) mentioned that the Kingdom of Heaven is within us all.

    • Mo Barker says:

Dear Brent: Read your Bible often and you will begin to discern the truth for yourself. It’s a good idea & practice though to PRAY and ASK for God’s discernment (wisdom & understanding) before you read the verses or chapters each time. Truth will begin to jump out at you – even the small details. Ask God into your heart & sould completely. Ask His forgiveness for any past & present wrongs committed against your fellowman and against Him. He never “leaves us or forsakes us” and will walk beside you through thick & thin. Only He can offer us salvation at the end. Be blessed and know that He alone will save us both here on this earth & in the hereafter – if we call out to Him. Don’t rely on a group of people – rely on Him and His Word, the Scriptures. By the way the King James version of the Bible is missing approximately 7 of the originally written Scriptures. The Catholic Bible has all the books of the original Scriptures included. Just some added info for you to research. May God watch over you & protect you and guide you in your quest for His knowledge.

To the original author. I’m soo sorry you feel so strongly judgmental towards this. We at unity still love you. That’s what Jesus taught us. And I am not sure where you get your info but it is incredibly wrong. We do not put Fillmore as our God. We do not believe we are Gods. We peacefully practice the teachings of Christ. Fear based religion is not for us. And yet we are very very happy and its not fake. Please practice your own religion in your right to do so. But stop spreading hate. Awareness in any negative forum is hate.

  15. Sherry says:

If not for Unity I would not ben the person that I am today. I had a very low period in my life where I doubted the very existece of God. I have studied many Christian religions and have done tons of research on my own. I have researched Hinduism, Buddhism, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness and many more. Not until I started praying and meditating for guidance did I get my answers loud and clear (even so I still continue to search for answers) There were too many “coincidences” to even mention and they all lead me to Unity. And yes, I did pray in Jesus’ name. I also called upon my angels and any other heavenly creation to help me. I have never felt more loved, accepted and sure of God’s existence. I feel at peace and know within my heart that Unity has it right. Unity members live a Christian life and follow Jesus’s example more closely than any religion I have ever encountered. Too many people sadly use religion as a crutch and as an excuse to ostracize and condemn others who think differently. As far as the Bible goes, it is a beautiful collection of poetry and stories and a record of history. Anything that you need answers to can be found in the bible if you look carefully with an open mind and ask for divine assistance to help decipher some often very difficult material to understand. Please remember that there were many books and writings left out of the bible and a very small group of people have been entrusted to the daunting task of figuring it all out. Texts were carefully pieced together and then translated through several languages until they(mostly if not all men) decided what the word of God was and what should be left out. It also stands to reason that some power hungry people would see it to be in their best interest to motivate the general population through fear and coercion. For some, religion is blasphemy. It’s much less about God and much more about self rightousness and power, an excuse to hate. For the record, I see most Christians as kind, peacefull people just somewhat gullible and misinformed. Always, always, always, question what you are told to believe, let spirit guide you, and don’t be lead by fear. God is love, if someone tries to tell you to fear Him, stand up for Him and don’t let his reputation be soiled by imperfect, human emotion. Peace and Love to all!

    • Tasha says:

Hi Sherry, this post has made me feel comforted so Thank You!
This is so beautifully written and explains in such a simple and non judgmental way that I think many people trying to find their spiritual path will find peace in this. How anyone can feel at Peace living in fear of God rather than feeling his unconditional love is so bizarre to me, if everyone just felt love and compassion and not fear, and hatred to others beliefs, there would be peace in everyone’s lives. The message is so simple really and I think you have just written it in a nutshell! I was very excited when I read more about Unity Church, which was only recently, it explains very well what I try to explain what my beliefs are to the people who think I need ‘saved’
I feel like this has happened at a perfect time in my life, a lot of coincidences led me to it and I am very grateful to have found it!
      Blessings xx

      • Rob G says:

        Hi Tasha,
I am thankful to God that you feel loved and have peace in your heart. While Unity may preach a message of peace, love and acceptance, they do not believe in the diety of a living God, choosing to believe that God is in all of us. Indeed, we are the temple of the holy spirit, and as such we are taught to love ourselves. The one true and only unforgiveable sin is denial of the Christ. When the bible refers to taking the Lord’s name in vain, many “believers” feel that this admonition refers to using profanity when speaking the Lord’s name. While this is not exactly a “nice” thing to do, one must go back to the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic texts to see exactly what was meant. Yes it is true that the texts have been “translated” in to many different languages, and over time words have changed in meaning, but the original texts and their meanings are clear. For example, The fires of hell in the bible are said to burn with “fire unquentionable.” If you go back to the original texts, the word “unquentionable” is actually the greek word from which our modern day english word “asbestos” comes from. Thinking about asbestos, you have to realize that it is something that is never consumed by the flames. It has to take the continued punishment unceasingly. This tends to bring a whole new concept and understanding of the test. Similarly, if we look at the word “fear” the original scriptures used a word denoting great piety, admiration and respect. Only a fool would not have great respect for the territory of a rattle snake, a lion or any venemous creature. While some might worship venemous creatures, anyone dealing with them is wise to give them due respect and avoid their rath. While God is a loving being, to “fear” Him (in the contemporary sense of the word) is to show him great respect. Love does not punish, love disciplines.” Unrepentant criminals are punished. Those who break the law are punished. The same with God. God loves us and he disciplines those who love and respect Him. Those who deny His diety will face eternal punishment. Unfortunately, Unity does deny the diety of Christ, choosing to believe instead that Christ was a mere mortal who espoused “nice” thoughts about God and he is the one to be modeled and looked up to, but Unity denies the diety of Christ, and thus is a false religion. Realize, the bible teaches us that the devil has power to assume a pleasing shape. In this deeply troubled world, if Unity was the answer, please ask yourself why then would Unity only boast of a little over 200,000 members in the U.S.? The Church of Scientology has more members as did the Jones Temple. I suspect you have been mislead by well meaning “Christians.” Remember, there are none so blind as those who refuse to see. I do believe that “Christianity” is the one true religion, but how one defines Christianity, one MUST start with a very clear understanding of the scripture and the faith that Christ is diety and there is indeed a real God with a real heaven and hell.

  16. Mo Barker says:

Sherry: You have bitten the bait put out by Unity as so many others before you. Unity preaches love of fellowman and that’s admirable, but that is only A PART of the truth of the Bible. YES, we are to fear the living God in Heaven. He is our Alpha and our Omega -always will be. If we don’t fear Him, we are in trouble. He is our ultimate Judge and will be when we die. We have free will, of course, but if we make bad choices we will have to answer to Him and Him alone. Always remember that truth. That is not fiction. It is the truth. Read the Old Testament & the New Testament. You will become educated yourself. Don’t just rely on what others interpret for you. Read the truth yourself. And, by the way, many folks like you refer to “spirit” and not the Holy Spirit. There is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, FYI. Yes, God IS love, but He is also our Redeemer, Savior and Judge. They all go together. Don’t pick out just the parts you want to believe or acknowledge. Just like a parent, He should discipline & correct His children when they need it, but that does not stop Him from loving us always. Peace to you as well.

    • cs says:

Mo Barker I have children. And I discipline them but not by hand. And please don’t mention the “spare the rod” verse. Because that is also widely misused. I don’t spank them. They don’t fear me. But the do distinguish right from wrong. THey know good consequence and bad consequence. Having said that I love them beyond reason. They are my life. I would NEVER want them to burn. No matter what they did. And if we are made in Gods image and I can love them as such…..God who is so much more for us can’t love us even remotely the same? My children respect me and I have been told over and over how wonderful they are. And you know what? They are kind, loving, peaceful children. Not because of fear but because of love.

    • Diana says:

There is only love and fear. It’s unfortunate that you choose fear.

  17. Sherry says:

Most of the bible is open to interpretation. Noone can be certain of the meaning of anything that was written so long ago and pieced together and translated so many times. Yes, I do believe that the writers of the books in the bible were divinely inspired. We need to call on the wisdom of the Holy Spirit (which is what I meant when I refered to spirit, I do not acknowledge any other spirit other than the Holy Spirit) to guide our hearts and minds when reading it. Also, who is to say that the only divinely inspired texts were written thousands of years ago? I believe they are still being written but people fear, that because they are not written similiarly to what is in the bible that they are not true. What if we are closing our minds to what may, in the future be part of the bible or even a whole new bible? I am sure people argued and disagreed with what was eventually put in the Bible that we know today. It was written to be understood by the people of those times. Many things are not relevant now. Yes Jesus is Lord and Savior however, Unity people interpret the message differently than mainstream Christianity. In response to “don’t just rely on what others interpret for you” I have never listened to what others interpret for me. That is why I find peace and comfort in Unity. I have always questioned, researched, prayed, and challenged what I was told. I have read much of the Bible and many other religious texts and have come to my own conclusions after much thought and prayer. After many years on my spiritual quest I find a church where I feel at home. It feels right and makes sense. It’s far from them luring me in, I was divinely guided to it. The idea that I should fear God has always made a sour feeling in me. I feel we should fear the consequences of our actions which God allows to take place. I believe that negative actions attract negativity. When we turn our backs on what Jesus taught us, we suffer because we have lost our way. He taught us and was a living example of the best way to live our lives. God does not dole out punishments and “judgment” I think is misunderstood. We have to live with the consequences of our choices, He is not standing up there waiting for us to do something wrong so he can punish us. He wants us to be happy because he loves us. The idea that He would allow anyone to go to a place like Hell for eternity for transgressions that were made in one lifetime, seems to me to be saying that He is not loving or forgiving. And if we believe that we make the choice to not follow Him and He allows this eternity of suffering, then what was the meaning behind suffering and dying on the cross? IIf we believe that God is Love, and He is, then are we saying that God hasn’t the power to save us? We must either believe that He is love and forgiveness and would never allow such a thing or that he does not have the power to help us. I do not believe that our all loving, omnipotent, powerful God would ever allow such a thing. Do we kick our kids out of our lives because they make mistakes and condemn and judge them to unspeakable pain because they did not think or act the way we wanted them to? Or do we give them chance after chance and love them unconditionally? If we, as mere mortals, are capable of such compassion, how can we think or expect any less from Him? I have so much passion for this topic and hope it doesn’t hurt you. I feel that you are a very caring person I just feel sad for some of the costraining beliefs you have. I have such joy in my convictions and want everyone to feel unconditionally loved without fear. Respect, peace and love; Sherry

Thank-you, I needed to hear that. I don’t know why I need someone’s approval but I feel that I do and it feels good! Maybe it is simply knowing that someone understands and gets it. I was falling away from God and Unity saved me in many ways. I don’t get how it is not better understood. It confirms what the bible says not rejects. You need to think deeper, the same message can be given in many different ways. Blessings to you too! Sherry

    • Gaz Parker says:

Sherry, “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped; rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!

    • Claud says:

      Ron,
The difference between Unity and most is that Unity doesn’t damn you to hell. Its about your spiritual journey. It is not a fear based church. I think in my opinion that is very threatening to some. God is love. You can still embrace Christ as savior. Your beliefs will not be taken away ever. Unity is about your soul’s journey on earth. No fear. Just love and Christ’s teachings.
      God bless you.

    • Justin says:

Something I’m aware of some people saying is a person is just imagining their prayer was answered any time they say that it was. Due to that, something I’ve asked some atheists is, if that is the case when a person who has accepted the Son of Man as their Lord & Savior prays, how did the following happen: In the past, every 4 or so days, I would have 1 – 5 epileptic seizures within 18 or so hrs. One day though, they just stopped. Nine or so months later I still hadn’t had any. Then, as usual, I went to church. But this time a Christian family I know from another time zone was there. That day I learned that 9 or so months back… they had had my name added to the prayer list of the church they normally attended. A week & a half or so later though, my seizures started back up. Then, 4 or so weeks after… they started back up, I learned that, after the family got back home, they had my name removed from the church’s prayer list due to how well they heard I was doing.

Not knowing exactly what Lutheran Churches teach, I’ll say that this family, as well as the church they attend, agree with the teachings of churches such as Baptist Churches. I’ll add that this is not even near the only time I have seen… evidence of it being correct.

      P. S. By the way, notice that the family having my name removed from the prayer list the Sunday after they spoke to me, & me having another seizure a week & a half or so after they spoke to me means the 4 or so day cycle started back up as soon as they stopped praying for me.

    • Diana says:

Since Unity is not a religion in the truest sense of the word, you don’t have to stop being a Lutheran while you continue to seek your own truth.

  19. Ron Vohs says:

The Lutheran church used to be very conservative and traditional but has branched into different synods ,some becoming more contemporary and a little more liberal. All still have the sacraments, infant baptism and teenage confirmation.Times have changed but the bible has not and that is my issue with some churches who feel they have to adjust according to changing times. That is why I am searching for some old time true belief church.I was attending a United church of Christ church for several years and was stunned to find out they supported all abortion rights and I left immediately

Read the comment I made on Feb. 18, 2013. Praying in Jesus Christ’s Name, I asked God the Father to make a deal with me after cutting my right hand as well as nerves and tendons in my right hand. In a dream that night He told me that He agreed to do it. My side of the deal, which I asked Christ to complete, is to mail 110 people who have not accepted Christ and encourage them to do that. The Father’s side of the deal is to heal my hand after that has been completed. I know this is a lot to read, but the 1st paragraph in the comment I made above is part of what I plan on sending them. Below is some more of it.

I very much want you to know that the church that family attends agrees with the teachings of churches such as Baptist Churches. I want to add that, literally, this is not even near the only time that I have physically seen evidence of God answering the prayers of people who practice this religion. Information on some of the things the religion’s basic teachings consist of is what I have below. I very much encourage all of you to read this. I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior like Baptists say we need to do. And later on, after doing that, I saw improvements in my life. I also started noticing things about life that I never had before. Seriously, if you believe what I have below & accept Christ as your Lord & Savior, I promise…, after some time progresses, you will love that you chose to do that!

Other than books that are about the Bible, including the New Testament, the Bible is the only religious book we should read. God the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit are 3 Gods who are 1 God just as a lot of people’s names are 3 names that are 1 name. They, who are the only God that exists, are also 3 individuals who are each some…one as well as 1 individual who is some…one. God the Son was sent here by God the Father who gave Him a human body & had Him named Jesus. Jesus is… God the Son, the Son of God, the Son of Man, Christ, & Lord. All of these terms refer to Jesus specifically & never have, nor ever will, refer to anyone else. “Jesus Christ,” &, “Christ Jesus,” have no more difference in meaning than, “Judy Garland,” &, “Garland, Judy,” do. Christ, who never has, nor ever will, do anything wrong, was crucified to receive the punishment that we deserve due to the things we have done that are wrong. Jesus was raised from the dead by God the Father whom we separated from when we did the first of those things. He was raised so that we, through Him, can reconnect to the Father & be raised from the dead with a regenerated spirit. Letting go of your pride & accepting the Son of Man as your Lord & Savior is the only… way for this to happen though. Anyone who chooses to do this will be born again spiritually & live happily for eternity in the place… called Heaven. Anyone who does not do this will go to the place… called hell & be in torment for eternity. The life you are living right now is the only life you have ever lived as well as the only life in which you can choose to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior. Satan & demons are all individuals who are each some…one, & every one of them is tempting people to deny all these things that you’ve read.

        • Justin says:

Below is a comparison of a young adult moving out of their parents’ house & into an apartment when they’re still too young to be on their own, & us separating from God the Father when we did something wrong. Read, at least, the one of the first 2 paragraphs that’s first sentence matches your belief as well as the last paragraph.

If you believe that we’re divine or believe no god exists compare yourself to how the young adult feels right after they move in the apartment. At this point, how much higher do they feel their placement in life is? And how much does their pride love the placement they feel they have? If what you believe is true, what is your placement in life? But now, what is your placement in life if you will never be divine & God is some…one who is divine & wants you to worship Him? Like the young adult, your pride doesn’t like the placement that this would mean you have in life, does it?

If you believe there is a god(s) that we should look up to compare yourself to the second step of the young adult’s journey. At this point comes the time that their pride lowers a little due to them having to borrow money from a friend so they can stay in the apartment another month. When this moment arrives how much does the young adult actually feel like they’re depending on their friend & how much do they feel they’re still doing things on their own? With this in mind, study yourself for a moment. You may want to say… that you, personally, are looking up to this god(s) & depending on it 100%. But, how much do you really feel… like you’re doing that? Like the young adult, you have the thought… of looking up to this god(s), but the inside of you actually feels… like you’re doing things by yourself, doesn’t it?

When their journey’s about over the time that the young adult has to move out of the apartment due to, neither them, nor their friends having enough money arrives. When this occurs, the young adult’s pride drops again & they finally realize that they do still need their parents. But, instead of letting go of their pride & moving back in, they, for their pride’s sake, go to a friend’s house & stay with them for a while. After this, they might go to their grandparents’ house. But then, finally, they let go of their pride, move back in with their parents, & look up to them again. Compare this last step of the young adult’s journey to what we need to do according to the Bible. At any time during their adventure, the young adult can choose to go back to their parents. They just have to let go of their pride to do it. We can be born a second time & reconnect to God the Father by accepting Christ Jesus as our Lord & Savior. We just have to let go of our pride to do that. The more pride we are holding onto though, the harder it is for us to let go of it as well as realize we need to let go… as is the case with the young adult.

        • Amen! Well said and all true.

  21. Earl says:

Everyone is looking for a new spiritual body. Why not use the lips, hands and feet that you have to serve God instead of looking for something in an afterlife. Not a follower of Unity but believe that love is enough of a motivation to serve God. Fear is used by those that cannot motivate by love. Yes- fear works but perfect love casts out all fear. It is all about doing what you can , while you can. Eternity has already begun. There are a lot of extreme hate groups that spring up from fundamental so called christian groups. The fundamental question should be – Where is Jesus now? Is Christ at the helm of your life or are you still waiting for him in the sky? Are you waiting for a reward or just serving out of love? To God be the glory and praise, if not then its a cult.

    • Sherry says:

You sound very spiritually evolved and Christ centered. Unity may be the perfect place for you. Unity is full of God centered people who have experienced things that seem to be meant “just for them” I urge you to check it out. The answer is: Jesus is with you always. Our motives should be love driven and not fear or reward driven. Unity is as far from a cult as you can get!

      • Josh says:

hi sherry, if unity is christian then unity should believe in both heaven and hell. unity beliefs say… 1) God is the source and creator of all. There is no other enduring power. so if there is no other enduring power then who causes suffering? divorce? wars? rape? demonic possession? if unity’s beliefs are true then there should be no need for exercists. but there are exercists? what are they expelling? demons. what are demons? evil spirits. it also says…. 3) We create our life experiences through our way of thinking. so here we are back to the law of attraction. and who teaches that? abraham. who is abraham? an evil spirit pretending to be God or an angel. So if I think about having the best computer in the world to play games on I can make it happen just by thinking about it. hmmm, lets think. I am a created creature. I am not God. God’s holy spirit who is a part of the trinity is in me giving me grace or (divine influence) to do good and not sin. But I have free will so I can choose God or (not) choose God. Jesus saves, we cannot save ourselves. also says…. There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God. same thing law of attraction being packaged in different ways. test it using the scientific method? doesn’t work. God always answers prayers yes traditional christian prayers. and his answers in most basic form are yes, no, or not now. Also God allows suffering because in short it is in his plan for salvation at the end of time somehow.

        • cs says:

With all DUE respect to those who blame Unity for their life sufferings (ex: divorce). And also those who keep miss interpreting what Unity stands for. I just want to ask those folks how many times has the bible been translated and altered. How many times have we changed it (especially in the English language). Also, where oh where does Jesus mention salvation because he dies for us. Where does he say “honor me for I will dies for all your sins”.
That was something put into the bible by the original church to create guilt and give power to those in charge. And please don’t mention “no one can come to the father but through me”
That has been so widely manipulated to put fear in humans. He meant in truth, which is what he came to preach. And showed us how to love one another. Do right because its right and not out of fear for consequences. If you trully believe in Christ and his message their would be more love…less hate….and less blogs like this one. Those at Unity are happy, evolved, loving and at peace. They dont preach against anyone. And yes they are saved. Their Faith has saved them. To really understand new age is hard. It’s not socerry or magic or talking to spirits. Its meditating (same as prayer) and just having one on one communication with God. God says we were created in his image yet we refuse to acknowledge that. Even with all the distrust toward Unity , they would welcome any religion and their dogma. My husband still prays to saints. They don’t care. Makes me sad how much they are Attacked. But you’re all still my brothers and sisters. I love you. Blessings. Namaste!

          • Josh Kennedy says:

that’s right “no-one can come to the father except through Jesus.” why? because Jesus, being the second person of the trinity became a human being while still having the divinity of God. Jesus is the second Adam. Adam and Eve lost paradise for the human race. Jesus is sometimes called the second adam because during the temptation in the desert he responded correctly to the temptations of the devil/Satan and did not give into them. And then died on the cross to save us from our sins. Go read the writings of the early saints from the 4th 5th up through the 15th century or so. Such as the suma theologica, saint augustin and others.

            • cs says:

Again all personal interpretation of what was written by humans. Many a stories have been written since men could write. We can study Greek mythology as well and plenty of other religions that write about a virgin birth of a prophet. Jesus never said he was the “second” Adam. Only tell me of what HE taught. Not what was written about him. Which one can argue was perceived by his disciples. If I recall some even tell the same story from different angles. I respect and value your opinion. I will however keep living with love in my heart for all. Yes even my enemies. That is what Unity has taught me. God bless.

              • Justin says:

Something you should keep in mind is Baptists, etc. claim that hell is the place… you will go to if you don’t accept Jesus as your Lord & Savior. If you practice this religion & Unity ends up being correct you’ll have another opportunity to accomplish perfection. But, if you practice Unity & Baptists end up being correct you’ll go to hell… & be there for eternity. By the way, take note that eternity is forever. Being there for eternity doesn’t mean you leave later on. It means that, literally, 10,000,000 years later you will still be there… And the door will still… be locked tight. Give this some thought. You’re better safe than sorry.

                • Josh Kennedy says:

hi justin you’re right there. there’s either heaven, or hell. no in-between. Just look at unity’s website folks…they don’t believe in hell. that right there sets off red flags that say no this is not christian. unity is a newage organization similar to scientology and some others but with some differences. in some youtube videos from unity of reading they talk about the law of attraction. and who came up with that? a demon calling itself abraham. now the question is, for you authentic christians out there, baptists, lutherns, methodists, and others, how long, if it ever happens at all, will it take for my wife who calls herself reverend crystal or peaceweaver to realize her mistake and repair all of the damage she has caused to me, and my/her family? I’m only 30 years going on 31 years old… I had a job, was ready to move my family far away from such bad influences. but I failed. And it seems as if the devil has won and has permanently destroyed my family.

                  • cs says:

I’m so sorry you feel this way Josh. Now picture yourself speaking to Jesus about this. The Jesus of the Bible in which you probably claim to know. What would Jesus say? Forgive? Do not worry? Trust in God? Serve others? Don’t judge? Any of those perhaps? Take what you want from your researc into the church. But living with bitterness and resentment or hatred is not very Christ like. That’s what we strive for. To let Christ who is in our hearts shine through.
“The four agreements” is an excellent book. Give it a try. And no it is not a Unity book.

                    • Josh Kennedy says:

there’s a difference between judging and stating facts. the facts are 1. unity believes the christ consciousness within people etcetera…this goes against the bible and christianity. fact 2. some or perhaps a lot of unity churches quote directly and teach from a course in miracles, the secret, the law of attraction, these are books inspired by the devil, clearly anti-christian. People who follow unity, which is anti-christian have a greater probability of going to hell than those who follow traditional christianity who practice their faith such as baptists, lutherns, catholics, and so on. and then you also have to factor in circumstances, what lead up to the person joining unity? do they know they are going against christianity by doing so? there’s lots of factors involved.

                    • cs says:

I respect and acknowledge your feelings and views. I let go of my ego. For my journey is not so I can gain any rewards. My journey is to serve others and God. I live heaven on earth. I have my daily bread and all I need. I forgive myself and others. Evil does not touch my home. For his is the power and glory. I hope it all works out for you and your family sir. Keep the faith. It will work out.

                • Joe Espinosa says:

I was “born again” over 25 years ago. Unfortunately, I “accepted” Jesus in a very charismatic church. For years I believed the lie about there being a literal hell. Hell is Greek mythology incorporated into scripture; an extreme control mechanism use to gain converts. Moreover, why would ANYONE want to serve a bipolar God who gives you only THIS life time to repent, submit, and obey? You mean to tell me He loves me unconditionally on this side of Heaven, but if I don’t say the magic prayer to receive Jesus, I will be relegated to eternal torment upon my death? We need to remember God is in the micro and the macro. Jesus is the cosmic Christ. Fundamentalist’s cannot grasp that the one God has varied revelations, scriptures, and commandments as God is understood, interpreted and sought by people of different times and cultures. Moreover, they have not grown in compassion enough to realize that all these human beings can be as fully and sincerely devoted to God as they themselves are, often more so.

              • Josh Kennedy says:

so if everything ever written is someone’s personal interpretation, then we come back to the idea that we are all our own gods, as unity says, the christ conciousness within you. then we argue, well whose interpretation is correct? And if everyone is correct then you have chaos and not ordered reasoning thinking. So there has to be a final authority that says this is correct, this is not. Jesus himself never said the bible is the final authority on everything. nor did he say interpret the bible for yourself and just draw your own opinions about what I have to say. But rather he gave others, his disciples and apostles certain authorities abilities and responsibilities so they may help found Jesus’s church, and continue it. Why not read documents from the early church 2nd century through the 9th or 10th century or so and learn the history behind the original church, and start worshiping God the way the church intended –the way Jesus intended for people to worship him/God.

Hi Gaz, I also agree with your article 100%. and after watching this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcCmRL_8T3Y I am more convinced than ever that my wife getting involved in Unity caused our divorce and the breakup of our family. And those who got my wife into unity would then also be guilty of this crime. Also Gaz since due to custody issues my son goes to visit his mom who is involved in unity as soon as he is old enough I will show him the above video if it is still there. Unity is newAge plain and simple no ifs ands or buts about it. I pray that during the years he must still go to that horrible place that I pray that God will protect him from the influence of unity which is clearly satanic. yes folks stay away from unity. find a good authentic christian church like baptist, luthern, catholic, methodist, unity at first glance may seem christian but it really isn’t. and if you go to youtube.com and type in “unity of reading” and watch a few of their videos you will hear newage philosopies taught. its bad, I recommend people avoid unity.

  28. of course like your web site but you need to take a look at

This article has been a very good personalisation of Satan himself. Well done Gaz, if your aim is to prevent the manifestation of the Kingdom of Heaven. The devil’s greatest trick is to look like God. It appears that you’ve somewhat fallen for it, although I’m sure in other aspects of your life your devotion is used for service of the Lord. However, do not be mistaken, this article is not service to the Lord, but to the devil, the deceiver.
May you be blessed with divine love and peace in abundance, and guidance and discernment.

  36. Kathie says:

My Unity Minister does not define Unity as New Age…. it is New Thought Christianity… our Mission is to love, serve and inspire all people by celebrating our connected-ness to God and to one another. Our Purpose is to affirm our oneness, demonstrate unconditional love and acceptance, teach the truth, embrace diversity and change, and create and maintain a prayer consciousness. Our Core values include being God centered, living in integrity, empowerment, commitment, acceptance, generosity, and joy. We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Practice prayer and meditation so as to align our heart-mind with God using denials and affirmations as tools. We live the Truth of Jesus Christ teachings through our thoughts, words and actions. Unity is Practical Christianity… we live the teachings by practicing them every day… all day long.

  37. Jen says:

wow. fascinating collection of comments. I think Unity is the closest to the real truth as it gets. Organized religion is fear based. Always has been. People follow a book written by man over 1,000 years after the events occurred. Ever play that game, telephone, where ten people sit in a circle – the first person is told one sentence. He whispers it to the 2nd person who whispers it to the next person and so on. Just 10 people later and that sentence isn’t the same anymore! How can people take the bible so literally?

Here is what I know for certain. Let’s say a Jewish child is born to Jewish parents and a Christian child is born to Christian parents. Let’s say the Jewish child grows up very religious and spends his whole life serving others and making an immensely positive impact on so many people’s lives. He is faithful to his religion and dies having never believed in Jesus. Let’s say the Christian child grows up in a dysfunctional family (the roles could be reversed – this is just an example). That child grows up and ends up in a life of crime. He rapes many and kills a few. He is sentenced to death row. While awaiting his sentence, he “finds” Jesus and calls himself saved. He still commits some minor violent offensives in prison but he is now a Jesus follower. In the Christian world, the gentle and giving Jewish man goes to hell for all eternity and burns there. The ‘saved’ Christian murderer, however, goes to heaven and lives in peace.

if you believe this is how God works, you have to be brainwashed. I knew, deep in the core of my soul, all my life….that the only ‘religion’ that could possibly be true is one that equally applies to every person who exists and doesn’t promise eternal hell to people who don’t follow the dogma but otherwise live a good life. No God would condemn a person for all eternity for not believing Jesus is the savior. It’s NOT that persons fault they were born into a non-Christian family. People feel they must believe and follow Jesus out of fear of what will happen to them when they die if they don’t. Start questioning WHY you believe what you do – dig deep. You may be surprised with what you come up with.

    • Song says:

      Jen,
I am really thankful for your comment and insight. Like any religion hate, it hurts and sucks. But forever I will be a strong believer that God (which is also known as the uUniverse, Creator, Oneness, etc.), is in within all of us, since we are all connected to the earth, to each other, to our higher selves.
Follow Jesus cause he has so awesome insights and teachings, not because he died on the cross for our sins.
Unity believes that we are human, we make mistakes. But we came to a material world like earth to learn about ourselves and others and spread a universally known truth: Love. I’m hoping everyone can accept that Unity isn’t Bullpoop, and that like every other religion, we have truth. We have power. We are New Thought, not New Age.

      Namaste.

      • Bob from Australia says:

Its so funny reading all these articles. Unity is not a cult. But it does have some rediculous wordings in its system. The lords prayer has been humanised. it replaces the word EVIL with ERROR. So what Hitler Did was an error. Or what Pol Pot did was an error. What a joke. Unity removes Jesus name from all its affimations. It uses the word Christ as if Jesus did not exist or was a minor player in the whole christian saga. It says we all all Christs. It says we all all Gods. It misuses the bible to support this saying. But if you read the bible it says we can be like Gods in our understanding of Good and Evil. Unity does not believe in EVIL. Unity is not Gods word but human kinds version of what is right and wrong. Christianity also is so wrong in its Judgemental approach to everything. Christianity teaches fear. Jesus never taught fear. He taught love. Human intelligence has improved in leaps and bounds only since we took away the power that priest and bishops held in our society. Education has changed every thing. The last 100 years the world has progressed so much. All because of learning. look at the countries where education is lacking. Many of these places still believe in witch craft ( Haiti) Look at the Arab world. It believes in an eye for an eye. ( this is in the bible also) ( how wrong is that thinking) Lack of a broad education makes these people react like Christianity did 50 years ago. ( the hatred of Protestants and Roma Catholics) Even the muslims fight amongst them selves. God never put us on this earth to hate. He put us here to LOVE One another.
So after reading all these responses from readers I see only biased views rather than what God wants from us. God wants peace, love and understanding ( education of the masses) as the correct way of living. he does not care about man made religions. he only wants us to care about each other and make this world a better place. Underneath all of this UNITY wants these things too.( so who are we to say UNITY is wrong or a cult) So do most caring people of this planet. Bob from Australia

        • Song says:

Bob, thanks for your insight it was interesting to read.

But I think you are misinterpreting what it means when you said, “it says we are all Christs. It says we are all Gods.” Unity belief is not saying we are literally gods. No, it’s saying we have God’s light (Holy Spirit, love light, etc.), in us. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Also, I agree with you about what God really wants. I agree he wants peace, love, and acceptance. Unity is more of a spiritual believe and guidelines, rather than forced fear and a religion. I think God wants us to reach for higher vibrations and become closer to the Truth.

My hope is that one day, religions won’t be such a big deal, and that these boundaries (religious beliefs), won’t hold us back from really getting to know one another and learn to love each other based on who we really are inside.

  39. ROY THOMAS says:

This “Unity” business sounds like a drug that dulls one’s senses. I see people here talking about the scriptures pieced together and given as Bible. Once we have warped and wayward ideas about the word of God, we are discrediting it. The word of God is a lamp and a light. Psalm 119:105. It is true and it is truth. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. God is love but He is also Just and a Judge of all. We are all born with a genetic nature that makes us sin. We can only become Christians by being born again. Jesus said, No one comes to the Father but by me. NO amount of church attendance and good works and so called good thinking will save you from hell. Jesus himself said: These shall go away into everlasting punishment but the righteous into life eternal. Matthew 25:46. Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit are not principles. Principles do not create mass and matter. Do not get side tracked from the truth of God. Read the bible from cover to cover. See how God has dealt with men over the years. He who has not changed will open your eyes when in repentance you turn from sinful life behaviors and invite him into your life. He gave Christ, his only begotten to die for us to redeem us. That redemption is a personal one to be realized individually. There is no global salvation. There is individualized salvation for the global of the earth. Except you repent, you will perish. Jesus is the ONLY way to God, the father. Do not be led further astray by demonic spirits. They are deceitful and will trick you and distort your senses. Listen to the One and only whom God sent into the world to save sinners. His name is Jesus. He saves people from their sins. READ HIS WORD, THE HOLY SCRIPTURES FOR YOURSELF.

Thank you Roy for solidifying my beliefs and the reasons why I follow Unity. Its folks like yourself that caused me to leave. Who claim to be christian yet shout fear fear fear!!! I live a life of peace and love. Jesus walks with me. As does my guardian angels. I love all people and I don’t judge anyone. Frankly its none of my business. I read somewhere that I’m supposed to love all as I love myself. As God loves me. Which means I don’t look at what they do or how they live. I simply open my heart and arms to all. And have never felt more at peace with my life, or God. Many blessings to you and yours. Namaste!

      • Song says:

I agree with Susie and I feel like after reading this article, I feel stronger about my beliefs. Do people realize that hate only breeds more hate? I know I am loved by God, Jesus, my guardian angels, people who believe in the same spirituality/religion as me, and even people who don’t.
I didn’t hate the criticism before this hateful website, and I still don’t hate you or your harmful words. I fiercely believe that God would not want us to hate each other, but rather accept and nurture each other, as we are all on our own spiritual journeys.
We are spiritual beings, having a human experience. We are not “sinners”. We are capable of love, joy, and forgiveness. It’s time we forgive ourselves and others around us for spitting harsh words.
We are children of God and we have the Christ light (Holy Spirit, love light, God’s light, etc.), in us. God would not hate his children, nor impose fear upon them. That is only our fear keeping us from spiritual growth. It’s truly sad that we let something like this keep us from the Source. Let’s all get along and love one another.

        Much love,

        • Hazel says:

We are sinners. A believer and a saved soul of our SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, not consciousness, comprehends that our God did not lay down his life in vain. This is what it means to accept jesus christ. Indeed, who are we to say we are not sinners when that sacrifice and gift changed everything we have access to. It’s a misconception that God wouldn’t send his children to hell. He made the way out for us, thru jesus the christ. This is agape love. Nothing our consciousness can conjure up to meet the golden standards of our jesus. I urge the idea Jesus didn’t die in vain. We have everything good and all he has because of everything he selflessly, took upon himself. I wonder how insulting we humans can be to such a precious sacrifice that we never have to experience. We simply cannot fathom. Why did day turn dark when he was demolished on that cross? I think we know better. I think a good thing for unity believers to start with is there’s a difference between law and grace. Im speaking of grace. Im speaking about falling in love whilst taking our daily communion of all Jesus accomplished and becoming heavy with thanksgiving that even though our senses tell us we are experiencing disease, lack, troubles, etc….our beautiful fight of faith is to stand still and know its God’s fight and having the revelation of all that encompasses (jesus has accomplished and finished all, this battle is the Lord’s) because of his own shed blood, we can emotionally stay at rest. I think maybe falling in love with such a beautiful perfect sacrifice who took our wretched place is what this followers of unity beliefs is severly amputated without. It’s just painful to see such disregard for the Savior’s blood. It makes us all clean who accept such beauty in our lives. Praying you see Jesus’s blood here on out. I recommend joseph prince, he speaks of spiritual intelligence, or what our part as believers is. God wants you as his child to be saved by blood of our beautiful Jesus, nothing and noone else.. : )

          • Hi Hazel, sister in Christ! It is hard to witness to a believer in Unity because they do not take the Bible literally and as God inspiring men He chose to hand it down to us. And by the way Unity acknowledges God as Creator of all, but limits Him as being able to accomplish this small task, when compared to Creation! Charles Filmore picked from the Bible what HE WANTED to live by and discarded the rest as ” allorgories”, so anything which didn’t “fit” became his “new thought” and not to be taken literally. God didn’t suddenly have new thoughts centuries later which He either forgot to tell us or changed His mind about. Even if Unity doesn’t believe God literally meant it when He says He changes not and not to add or take away from the Bible, their common sense should tell them that God, who loves us, would not withhold life-giving information from us from the beginning or cause confusion by changing His mind. The Bible says He is not a God of confusion and if He changes His mind, then He would be as human as we are and not God of Creation and the Bible. Because Unity believers have not surrendered to Jesus as their Savior, THEY make Heaven or Hell themselves in their own minds and can change back and forth moment by moment, according to how they are feeling. I can’t imagine how anyone could fall for such a rediculous “new thought”…and they don’t on their own. Satan is a deceiver and the father of lies, seeking whom he may to destroy. God sends no one to Hell. We all have a free will and choice, and anyone who will not choose Jesus as the only way to the Father, CHOOSE Hell instead for themselves. God said He wants ALL men to be saved. He is a God of infinite love but is also a God of judgement. Unity wants to believe in God as love only. I loved my children but still judged their wrongs and disciplined them. So sad when it is so simple. Love to hear other’s insights. Thank you!

          • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

Hi Hazel. It is difficult to witness to anyone who believes the Bible is a bunch of stories written by men instead of God’s Holy inspired Word handed down to us. Recently a friend who attends Unity told me she doesn’t take the Bible literally, but does believe in the teachings of Jesus on showing us how to live. I responded that if I couldn’t believe ALL of the Bible literally then I couldnt believe ANY of it and it would be a waste of time reading it. I have pondered what she said and this question is to Unity: You believe Jesus was a real man who walked on the earth, not as Savior, but only to show you how to live. So how can you know he ever really existed? Couldn’t he just be another allegory, a man-made story, a myth, because after all, you believe most of the Bible is just that. Why would uninspired men writing an uninspired storybook interject true facts about a man called Jesus? Why would only what you believe Jesus to be, way-shower…not Savior, be correct? How can you believe only a part of why Jesus came from Heaven to earth and not the major reason? That doesn’t make any sense! Common sense should cause a doubt here! Please think about this Unity! I pray for my friend and Unity and I ask you to do the same, Hazel. We must because I believe Jesus is coming soon and all those who haven’t trusted Jesus as Savior will be left behind. Sad!

          • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

Loved what you said, Hazel, about being saved by Jesus’ blood! That’s what God tells us in His Holy Bible so we know it’s true! I’ve heard it said that God sends no one to Hell, rather a person who never accepts Jesus’ death on the Cross as payment for their sins sends themselves to Hell.
Jesus is that narrow gate and narrow path He speaks about. Since God offers each person the gift of His son, He has no choice but to let them go there if they refuse the gift and take the broad gate and path. He gave each one of us a free will and a choice. Thanks for sharing Jesus!

    • Hi Roy. I know yours is an older blog but I only became aware of Unity a few months ago. I am APALLED at how Jesus’ death on the cross in our place means NOTHING to Unity!!! If only they knew they cannot save themselves or knew the danger in changing the meaning of the Bible to fit how they choose to believe. God says not to add or take away from His Word! Charles Fillmore is a false prophet who has led, and is still leading, people down that wide path Jesus warned us about. So sad! I believe they are searching for God, but have missed Him. I agree with EVERYTHING you said, and If even one person realizes the TRUTH by your post, it’s worth your time and effort. I have quite a few blogs near the end of the posts you might enjoy reading. My prayer is to share truth that may someday take root and bear fruit. A sister in Christ Jesus. Blessings

  40. You have made some decent points there. I chedcked

My favorite part about the this conversation is the lack of empathy and understanding. I like to call “religious” people or Jesus “freaks” misguided. It saddens me that they all focus so much on Jesus’s death and what that was suppsed to do for humanity that they completely ignore his actual teachings. If they were to actually pay more attention to what he preached and came to teach then perhaps there would be less blogs like this one.
      Peace.

      • God LOVES “Jesus freaks”…and we will get to hear Him say to us as He greets us in Heaven, “Well done my Child, enter in.” It stands to reason that since the world is Satan’s territory after being thrown down from Heaven, that non-Christians and some religions would make fun of “Jesus freaks”.I am not in the least offended by being accused of being a “Jesus freak”, in fact I see it as a compliment because I feel It shows I must be doing something right and for me it is all about pleasing God. He LOVES it when we love His Son which He had to watch suffer and die for us. I don’t like the word “religious” and don’t consider myself religious. People can go to church every Sunday, go through all kinds of religious acts and call themselves Christians, yet their heart can be far from God. God delights in our faith in Christ Jesus alone, the “total” Jesus, Jesus who not only showed us how to live on earth, but showed us the way to go to His Father in Heaven. I love Jesus with all my heart and soul because of His willingness to die for my sins. He didn’t HAVE to, but He CHOSE to. In Matthew 26:39 He said shortly before He was crucified, and showing His humanness for the pain He was about to endure, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup (of suffering”) be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.” My prayer is that people of Unity will come to call Jesus the WAY and not way-shower. Love and blessings.

What gives you the right to say all spiritual paths that do not follow Christian doctrines are cults? The Bible is loaded with contradiction! Futhermore the Bible was written by man for man. Man inspired not God inspired.

  43. Spot on with this write-up, I absolutely think this site needs a lot more attention.
I’ll probably be returning to see more, thanks for the advice!

  44. Trex says:

Wow, you are all listening to some nut-job that says he sees spiritual entities? From what I have form people I have met that attend Unity in my town, they are merely more open to interpretation of the bible in a less literal sense and are also more accepting of other religions. There is nothing “cult” like about these people, just more open mindedness. They’re certainly not the ones casting stones. I’m so sick of people hiding behind Christianity to throw stones because they are either brainwashed by their church or are obsessive about religion. We all need to learn to live together on this planet. TOOOOOO many wars fought in the name of God and you seem bent on starting more with your nonsense.

    • dclyle says:

I too have been attending Unity and I can tell you that they want me to hold on to my beliefs and do what is right for me. Ultimately don’t you think God will tell us what is right? Don’t people know that “Labels and the will to be right” has cause the death of millions. Christians, Jews, Pagans, etc. We as the human race have all suffered and died, because of others opinion of what is right. I for one have been soul searching and I am letting God tell me what to do. Yes God may or may not be a man in the sky that looks down on me from heaven, but the one that wrote this article knows that God speaks through your heart and there you will find answers, so why write this? To whom are you trying to prove anything too. Are you struggling internally? Only conflict brings one to persecute others; internally or externally. God Bless you all and no matter what your “beliefs” are, I hope we all find peace in the love we were all born with and that the grace that God has given to us.

I’m not a Unity member but I look forward to becoming one. I am a saved soul and Gnostic in my beliefs. All I can say is WOW. I am so impressed by the Unity people who show love and give blessings even to those who oppose them. You call that evil and cultic? They seem to think for themselves. You call that evil and cultic? They believe in God and Jesus. You call that evil and cultic? Someone interprets the bible differently than you and you call that evil and cultic? By that definition all denominations are evil and cultic since they all deviate from the one true reading of the bible. And what is the one true denomination? Baptist, Catholic, Seventh Day Adventist?
I found your article rigid and judgmental on so many levels. I can’t say I believe in your ways any longer (notice I didn’t say God’s way)- I used to but I’ve moved onto higher thinking on my own without any church. The Christian Reformed, a Nondenominational, and Baptist churches all disappointed me with their interpretations of the bible. I didn’t give up. I knew God called me to Gnosticism and Mysticism for a reason. I also enjoy Zen Buddhism and Sufism. I am intimately close to God. Does that make me my own cult? I love God and Jesus and I follow them daily. I also realized men wrote the bible but the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Scrolls are so very important. Does that make me a cult? I believe everyone has a perfect spirit and love that inner being despite their flaws. Doesn’t God do the same for us? We are called to be Christ-like afterall. Your ways seem hateful and frankly ignorant.
I love Super Soul Sunday with Oprah Winfrey, and reading Rob Bell, Deepak Chopra, Bart Ehrman (Agnostic though very knowledgeable about the fallacies of the bible), and other books that are spiritual. I have educated myself since being saved through these fantastic people and the scrolls themselves. Instead of criticizing other Christians who love God and Jesus why not spend your energy in saving babies from abortion, children from hunger and abuse, help the mentally ill get their medicines, help the homeless, or something more productive? A lot of finger pointing, torture and killing have been done in the name of God. Who are we to speak for and judge in the name of God? But this response isn’t for the creator of this website. It’s for those who are on the fence. Decide for yourself if Unity is evil and cultic or not. Don’t let someone who so loudly rants against them sway your mind.

Thou doth protest too much (Hamlet) Urban Dictionary-
Overly insistent about something, to the point where the opposite is most likely true.
Someone emphatically stating how much one hates gossiping, that one would never engage in this sort of behavior. This implies that, “thou doth protest too much” and may in fact be a gossip.

You have a mind of your own. Use it. Blessings.

I copied and pasted this from the Unity Church of Peace website:

    Unity Philosophy
Unity is a trans-denominational philosophy that finds its roots in the teachings of Jesus. It is sometimes called “practical Christianity” because we teach spiritual principles that apply to everyday living. We honor the sacred Truth contained at the heart of all major religions. We teach oneness with God and with all of God’s children. In Unity, we honor diversity and believe that all persons are created with sacred worth.

    Basic Philosophy

    1) God is the source and creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.

    2) We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.

    3) We create our life experiences through our way of thinking, our attitudes, and our habitual states of mind and heart.

    4) Our lives can be changed and transformed through the power of affirmative prayer, forgiveness, and unconditional love.

    5) Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not sufficient. We must live them as well.

Check out the website for yourself. http://www.unitychurchofpeace.org/unity-philosophy

Someone once told me years ago that Harry Potter books were occultic. I was curious so I read them for myself. I laughed when I found them to be as harmless as the Lord of the Rings series. People sometimes make claims that aren’t true without actually investigating for themselves what the truth is. Be curious. It doesn’t hurt to investigate something for yourself.

  47. Ani says:

I respect everyones opinions. All I know is that reading a Unity booklet, my spirit was stirring inside me in a negative way. I had not read anything from Unity before. I sincerely believe that Christ is the only way to our Salvation, and that God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one, (much like water, vapor and ice).
    Love to all!
    God bless you

  48. Brelynn H. says:

I was a unity and new thought follower for about two years and I’m very thankful for them, they lead me back to Christ. Before that I was pagan for about 9 years. Then I found the new age movement, then the new thought movement. All the while my heart was growing closer and more accepting of Jesus. At first, during the new age period, I felt very close to the angels and God. Then during the new thought/unity/acim period, I accepted Jesus as a teacher and “way shower” and my heart grew very close to him and also to Holy Spirit. I struggled here with accepting the understanding of the crucifixion and him being God in the flesh. After all the bible is pretty clear that we will never see the face of God. But the angel of the Lord is seen on many occasions and is quite different in accepting worship than the other angels of the bible, just like Jesus. In fact they both use the term “I AM”. Anyway I recently experienced a complete understanding, at least for myself. See the Christians use all the scriptures that support Jesus’s divinity, like John 3:16, “grace alone”, I am the resurrection and the life, I am the way the truth and the life….etc and the emphasis is on the crucifixion. but they, usually leave out his actual teachings about being a good person and non judgment. The new thought use Jesus as a spiritual teacher and guide and use the scriptures to back up the humanity and lessons for life and relationships to back up their claim, so their emphasis is on his life and teachings. But the truth is that BOTH sides are in the bible so it made me think, they must both be highly significant. So in my willingness to know the true meaning of Jesus and the crucifixion I received this understanding.

When humanity fell our bodies were changed so that now we experienced death. That’s the Adam body, made from “earth” that we are all born with and subjected to sin through. Jesus was born from a woman (Adam body, mortal) but came from holy spirit, which gave him also a corrected spiritual body (immortal). The crucifixion was the death of the Adam body and the sinful nature of humanity and the resurrection of the spiritual Christ body. Only through Jesus can we receive the spiritual body by being born again. Otherwise you can live a good life but still not receive an immortal spiritual body, that’s why accepting Jesus IS the only way because you receive the corrected spiritual Christ body. Now at the same time, it is still vitally important to live the way Jesus instructed because that strengthens your new spiritual body and keeps you living the heavenly way. That’s why we “store up treasures in heaven”.

That’s why unity isn’t complete, it teaches a lot of Jesus teachings for how to live but it doesn’t accept his correction as a divine being and born again. Christianity, on the other hand could use a little more unity day to day teachings of love thy neighbor and non judgment. You have to walk in your new spiritual body in order to strengthen it. Most of all though, we need to use our spiritual discernment and rely on the bible, holy spirit and Christ to guide us. Holy Spirit was the only one given authority over the bible, he is our teacher so ask him if in doubt. Most of all let your willingness to know the truth of christ, guide you.

My revelation about the crucifixion was backed up even more when I read 1 corinthians 15:35

    • Hi Brelynn. Your post is not recent but I only recently heard of Unity. I loved your post and hope you will see this. You found the KEY to understanding the Bible and about Jesus being the only way, that He REALLY IS the Savior, when you sought TRUTH above anything else. I did the same thing and God revealed to me many things I had been TAUGHT wrong since being born-again at age 10. The Bible became “alive” to me in a way it had never happened before. EVERY SINGLE PERSON should read the Bible for themselves, asking God to show them what HE means by what they are reading, NOT what anyone says. If EVERYONE did that, we Christians could be in one accord, accomplish more for The Lord, and there wouldn’t be all these denominations. Sad for God, but that won’t happen because many people are comfortable in “feel good” religions or are convinced the way they were raised is the only way. They are not open to the change Truth, at all cost, will bring. Satan knows full well if he can keep us divided, and not united for the sake of the Gospel, he can gain more souls. Thank you for sharing and I pray you are being richly blessed because of your faith and testimony.

Most religions have systemic flaws in their belief structure. True religion requires a thankful and humble heart, that seeks wisdom from above, which comes from God.

  50. Erick says:

My only problem with any of this is, what is different than anything spoken by Joel Osteen, TD Jakes, and nearly EVERY preacher on TBN or Daystar? They preach a prosperity gospel that never existed and laugh all the way to the bank and their gated homes in the name of Jesus. Where are the sites calling THEM out?

  51. Martha says:

You can here the hate screaming from your words. Unity teaches love something which you seem to be lacking. You are ill-informed on this subject

  52. Anne says:

The things that are taught at the Unity church are essentially the same as what is taught at other Christian churches. It’s just expressed a little differently – it’s a potato, po-tah-to thing. I’ve attended both types of churches. The one thing that I’ve noticed that is different is how much kinder and less judgmental the people at the Unity church are. When my husband and I were married, we were married by a Unity minister, and our vows were, “as long as you both shall love”, instead of “as long as you both shall live”.

    • Rob G says:

      Hi Anne,

It is a beautiful thought that you express. I can understand in this world why Unity would appeal to those who wish to practice “happy” religion. Certainly they express “the positive,” but please do not be fooled by the overall concept of Unity. While Unity preaches about the love of Jesus, they do NOT believe in the deity of Christ or the existence of a “God” as mainline Christianity believes.

In the 5th chapter of Ephesians, a parallel is made between the relationship of woman to man and a body of believers (church) to God. Churches that teach eternity and salvation differ slightly with one another in that some mainline churches teach that salvation can be lost, but there are those that believe salvation is eternal. From Corinthians we are also taught about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The “Love Chapter” teaches that of all the gifts, the greatest of these is love, and also that love never ends. I do believe this is true in that those I have truly genuinely loved, I still do despite serious detrimental circumstances. I suspect the divorce rate is so high because people often mistake lust for love. In your case, I sincerely hope that you and your husband do genuinely love each other, but please realize the bible is not a “pick and choose” book as Unity does to support its underlying principals. To suggest “… as long as you both shall LOVE” is to imply that love is something that can be withdrawn at will. God’s love for us is eternal and since the relationship between woman and man parallels God’s love for His church, that is why the traditional marriage vow is “live.”

If you want to say that mainline Christianity is a fairy tale, then so be it. If mainline Christianity is wrong, then where is the danger of believing in a fairy tale. If it is right, then there is eternal danger of NOT believing.

May God bless you and yours,
      Rob G.

  53. Angel says:

I am involved in the Unity church and I can tell you that it is NOT a cult sir! The church does not allow dogma and or doctrine to dictate their lives like many other cult like religions do, and you judging the church is just plain wrong!! Unity church actually encourages people to think for themselves. Once you begin to think for yourself you will begin to see the error of your ways. My motto is to Love ALL and Judge NONE

  54. I have just recently become aware of the beliefs of Unity organization. I refrained from saying Unity Church for this reason; the Bible definition of God’s Church is those who have accepted Jesus’ death on the cross for their salvation and have been born again of the HolySpirit. I realize what I say here will fall on many deaf ears but if even only one person recognizes Truth as truth it will have have been worth my time. Satan has come as an angel of light…just as the Bible warns he will do. For me this is not a debate and I refuse to do so. My intent is to be a good steward of God’s word as He told us to be. Every person has the right to freedom of religion because God allows us free will, No loving father wants robots for children and neither does our Heavenly Father. They would bring neither pleasure by their choices. I was delighted when my children made wise choices and so is God who watches over everything we do from His throne above. I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, using spirit-filled men to bring it to us. God, who spoke the world and everything in it into existence, is quite capable of doing it. There may be a variance in some words translated from Greek and Hebrew, but the theme remains the same throughout; The Word (Jesus) became flesh and lived among us. He who knew no sin, bled and died on a cross, descended into hell and rose on the third day to become our Savior. He made a way for our salvation because no one can do it for themselves. That’s the Gospel! If I did not believe the whole theme and messages of the Bible are God’s infallible words, if I believed much of it to be allegories with hidden meaning, then why would I read it? I wouldn’t! I would throw it away and never read it again, it would be a waste of my time. I couldn’t trust a God who isn’t capable of giving me His Truth I am seeking with guidance from the Holy Spirit. He did it for me and He will do it for anyone who seeks Truth with a sincere heart. There are many gods in this world, but ONLY ONE God of creation and the Bible. All religions do not lead to Him. He said Jesus is the only door to heaven, the way is narrow and few find it. I am ending this with three warnings God gave us, there are many, and a prayer for the Holy Spirit to speak to each Unity heart who reads this and they will know it it God’s Truth…not mine: Galatians 1:6-8 “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned. Proverbs 14:12. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death”. 2 Timothy 3:5. “…having a form of Godliness but denying its power . Have nothing to do with them”.

    • Rob G says:

Amen my sister in Christ. Thank you for sharing, may God bless you and yours.

      • Thank you Brother in Christ, for your comment and support! I moved to this area four years ago and had never heard of Unity. I decided to research it because a friend attends there and I became curious about her comments on the recent Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage and that her church’s bumper sticker displayed the Cross along with other’s religious symbols to show we are all one. We moved here from the same area, and I knew she had grown up in a fundamental Christian church. I was SHOCKED and appalled by what I learned! Satan has come as an “angel of light” in the highest degree! Jesus’ death for mankind has been replaced by “man’s own effort”. How like Satan! His job is to take man’s eyes off Jesus and the only way of salvation and well-meaning people have been deceived. It is our duty as good stewards of God’s word to “snatch others from the flames”, so will you pray with me daily for my friend and all others of Unity? I will witness to my friend when I feel the time is right. I hope if I was the one who had gone down the “wide path” to destruction that she would love me enough to try to turn me back also. Blessings.

        • So true there can be “stinker” preachers in any denomination who may have been “taught” what they preach instead of seeking Truth for themselves asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit. I became “hungry” for Truth 23 years ago, held the Bible and asked God to show me His Truth, not what I had been taught or anyone said. He did! It was amazing; babies shouldn’t be baptized because they haven’t sinned and baptism follows repentance; baptism is immersion and is a picture of our death to sin, buried beneath the water as like a grave and coming up as a resurrection to a new life in Christ. It also pictures Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. My Lutheran husband went ballistic on me when I tried to share with him what God had confirmed in my spirit was Truth. I had been saved at 10 in a denomination which believes you cannot lose your salvation and God showed me many warnings that say otherwise, even that He will blot a name from the Book of Life. Wow! It was exciting and I knew God was answering my prayer. Jesus’ death on the cross for my sins became so real that I wept from my heart because of His love for me. God didn’t show me a new thought or a different path to Him and He would have because I was willing in order to serve Him with my whole heart. God said He would always have a remnant of His people. From Jesus’ days on earth until today the Gospel message of Christ has remained, even though Satan has come as an angel of light and introduced “different and new” thoughts and ways. Some of these new ways are the Unitarians in 1774(officially), Mormans in 1830, Jehovah Witness in 1872, 7 day Adventists in 1863, Christian Science in 1879, Unity in 1889. God would have told us in the Bible if He was going to change His mind about our path to Him, but instead He WARNED us to be aware of false prophets: Matthew 7:15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing(looking good), but inwardly they are ferocious wolves”; 1 Peter 5:8 ” Be alert and sober of mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for whom he may devour”; 2 Corinthians 11:13,14 “For such men are false prophets, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ, and no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light”. I love the good old song The Old Rugged Cross, Victory In Jesus, At TheCross, At Calvary, Nothing But The Blood ofJesus, Amazing Grace, etc, but doubt they are sung in Unity meetings since their doctrine says they don’t believe this about Jesus, but instead believe it is their own power and minds that make their heaven here on earth. So sad.

An amateur physicist/astronomer here. I look up at the cosmos … and know the enormity of it. And am awed. I look at the beautiful moon with its dear face forever facing our little planet. How many people here know that the moon rotates on it axis in such perfect synchronicity with its orbit around our planet that we only see one side of it. And that its rate of spin is perfectly calibrated not only with the 27 days it takes to move around the earth, but also extends an extra two days to take into account the magnificent orbiting of the earth/moon pair around the sun. That the earth’s tilted axis gives us the seasons. That matter unltimately is energy. These are facts …. not myths.

And they are so beautiful … so miraculous that I stop and am overwhelmed with wonder. Then I look at the tiny amoeba moving under the microscope … so perfectly engineered to live at that basic level. I play a single note … on my piano …. and know that its frequency is exactly doubled at the octave. I am dazzled. So I play it again . So beautiful.

The earth vibrates with beauty and order … and I stand still and vibrate with it. I don’t need men’s words or talk ….. I don’t need their belief systems largely manufactured to wield power and foster fear. I look up at the cosmos … and then down at a drop of water. And God is everywhere.

And I cannot confine that force to a single word. God is SVLOT …
“Something Very Large Out There” ….. and vibrates within me and through every particle in the Cosmos. I do not force God into my own image …. how presumptuous. I understand that I do not know the immensity of SVLOT …. and I am content not to know. I do not need to know. Only that Something so magnificent is the Generative Force..

“For mine is the ecstacy of the spirit …. and also joy on earth”

    • So true that we cannot force God into our own idea of who He is. He is God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, so how could anyone believe they could control or change who He is by their own imagination or thoughts? The Bible speaks of signs and wonders in the heavens and even people who deny there is a God can’t deny the supernatural order of the heavenly bodies, kept in place by their Creator. God is more than a human mind can comprehend, but by the power of the Holy Spirit given us through Christ Jesus, we CAN know, and experience, His love, grace, forgiveness and mercy in our life.

      • nikkitytom says:

I agree with you wholeheartedly The only point where I differ is that I recognize that there are many possible pathways to God … and not only one. It is this insistence of various religions that they offer the ONLY way to God which is tearing our beautiful world to pieces. It should be obvious that SVLOT … or the Creator … must have created everything. And obviously that means each soul on earth. The idea that my wonderful mother-in-law, who was a Hindu … is denied the opportunity to know God is unconscionable. If “heaven” doesn’t include this great lady, then I ultimately want to be wherever her spirit is.

        • I pray that nothing I say will offend you, but want to share my testimony with you. I was not raised in church. My dad worked on the railroad and was gone a lot, we lived in the country and my dear mom didn’t drive, however she read her Bible often and was always singing those good ole gospel songs…Amazing Grace, I’ll Fly Away, Precious Memories, etc, out of tune for sure but God says to make a joyful noise and know it was beautiful to Him. Lol. We moved to town when I was 8 and I walked to church with a friend. I loved memorizing Bible verses for Sunday School. At 10 I was born again but didn’t grow much in knowledge of The Lord. I married at 16 and the church I attended with my husband didn’t encourage Bible reading so I still didn’t grow. My almost 31 year marriage was difficult and I suffered depression because of the feeling of not being loved. I searched for the reason for my life and turned to the God who created me, and His Word for answers. Understanding the Bible wasn’t easy for me and I had been “taught” different things in different churches. A day came when I asked God to help me understand. I held my Bible and told Him I wanted to know HIS Truth, not what I had been taught or what any man said. He answered my sincere prayer in miraculous ways, as He always will. The Bible became “alive” to me and I spent 10 hours some days reading the New Testament about Jesus’ love for me. It was a spiritual experience and was a knowledge in my soul, not knowledge in my head. Such a huge difference. I fell in love with Jesus and my life was changed radically 27 years ago. I could tell you of things He did for me when I cried out to Him in some desperate times. My husband didn’t like his new “Jesus freak” wife and ended our already troubled marriage, saying he knew what he believed wasn’t in the Bible but he was going to believe it the way he was taught anyway. So sad, but God gives us a free will and choice. He doesn’t want robots for children, who are forced to believe and follow Him. That would bring Him no joy. I know the Bible has been reworded through the years and some things are lost in translation, but, the main theme has remained the same; God is the Creator who loves us, there is a Satan, there is a Heaven, there is a hell, Adam and Eve sinned by their disobedience, Jesus left heaven, became a man and lived among us to show us how to live and to become our Savior. I KNOW the Bible is God’s word based on my experiences reading it, but I can’t force anyone else to believe it. I would if I could for their sake and God’s sake, but I can only share my testimony. God left us Instructions in the Bible because He knew we would need them. I left my children written instructions sometimes to help them remember homework, chores, games, practices, etc, to help them, not to harm them. God is capable of using spirit filled men to write His instructions for us…no chore for Someone who spoke the heavens and earth into existance. Men can try to change the Bible to say what they want it to say and somehow believe they’ve done it, but God says He changes not and His Word will always remain unchanged…no new thought…He thought of EVERYTHING we would need from the foundation of the world. Amen! I don’t always agree with God the way some things happen because I am human and can’t see the whole picture, but He is God and I’m not!! And I don’t question Him. I say these things in love and in Truth. Blessings.

  56. nikkitytom says:

A beautiful response. Shining with joy … and I have no doubt whatsoever that you connect with God. Beautifully and joyfully. And I am touched by the care you took to share your very personal story. I believe we are connecting to the same Source. As you say, there are a lot of changes made by men in the Bible … but God’s word remains. And for me the basic “Love they Neighbor” is the root and core of the Christian teaching … and I can find no better. But I also cannot believe in concepts such as Hell and Satan in the Old Testament … Christ himself had issue with.many precepts of the Old Testament.

Remember the He was a revolutionary who actually chased the money lenders from the temple and reiterated again and again the principles of love and forgiveness which the Old Testament did NOT share. Christ never believed in “An eye for an eye” … he believed in ” Turn the cheek”. He actually left very very few words or direct quotes. If you can locate a copy of the Jefferson Bible ( Thomas Jefferson worked for eight years to isolate the words of Christ himself from all the other writers) you will find that Christ’s words are few and very beautiful. He didn’t concern himself with issues which divide the Church today. He was concerned with Love. And with showing us of a higher force … God …. which created everything and was above all “merciful”. I don’t remember Christ speaking of Satan …

My issue is that I believe in my heart as firmly as you do in yours, that I have made that connection with God. And my belief is that religions offer a way or path towards understanding God. But that once that connection has been made, then there is only the pathway of love. I would never deny another person the validity of his or her “path” … I would judge them only by the “fruits” of their lives. Which is … basically what Christ preached … “Love”.

Blessings and Namaste ( which translates as “I honor the God in you” .. I lived in India for twenty years after my marriage and this is our usual greeting to each other. With folded hands and little nod of the head. I didn’t know what it meant for many many years …)

    • Blessings and Namaste to you also! Thanks for explaining. Yes, Jesus brought in a new era of mercy, grace and forgiveness…turn the other cheek, no longer an eye for an eye, as you said. He “hated” religion…and so do I. After all, religious people(Scribes and Pharisees crucified Him). Religion can crucify still, real faith doesn’t. I Googled the Jefferson Bible and won’t be buying one. I learned Jefferson cut out what he didn’t choose to believe in compiling his book. God tells us in scripture not to add or take away. I have studied many translations and found differences in wording by the attempt to use modern day language, but have never found deleting scriptures or changing the whole meaning. I am not a King James fan as many are. Since it was written for King James of England it contains words he used such as; thee, thou, ye, thy and thine. That is not my language! When I am conversing with My Heavenly Father I speak personally to Him as I did with my earthly father. One of God’s name is “Abba” meaning “Daddy”. I prefer the NIV translation. 115 scholars using original scrools, translated words…not changing the meanings, into more modern language as we use today. God has shown me miraculous Truths. I believe if one is seeking Truth he will find it. When I began my spiritual journey, I used The Living Bible I ordered from Billy Draham a lot. It’s about the simplest form, but God still honored my seeking. Now, about hell and Satan: I’m only going to leave you with some scriptures, they are not a new thought or idea, they go back hundreds of years to earlier Bibles. God is quite capable of preserving His Word down through the centuries, even though Satan has attempted to destroy it. The Dead Sea Scrools may have been lost to man…but not God. How can God lose anything?? I believe they were hidden by God, to be found at the exact moment they were, to further prove the authenticity of the Bible. These verses are in red and spoken by Jesus: MATTHEW16:15-18 “But what about you”, (Peter). He asked. “Who do you say I am.” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you,Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock(truth) I will build my church, and the gates of HADES will not overcome it.” JOHN 8:42:- 44. Jesus said to them, ” If God were your Father, you would love me, for I come from God and now am here. I have not come on my own, but He sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the DEVIL, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he llies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” MATTHEW 13:19 (Jesus’ words) “When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the EVIL ONE(Satan) comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.” MATTHEW 12:26 “If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How can his kingdom stand?”…need to read beginning at verse 22 to fully understand. LUKE 10:18. (jesus speaking) He replied “I saw SATAN fall like lightning from heaven.” …this goes along with Isaiah 14:12-15. It’s about Satan’s fall from heaven and why God threw him down to earth. Until that time his name was Lucifer, the most beautiful angel. The other two head angels were…still are…Michael and Gabriel. MATTHEW 4:1 “Then Jesus was led into the desert to be tempted by the DEVIL. After the devil tempted him three times and Jesus quoted scriptures to him, Jesus said this to him, MATTHEW 4:10-11 “Away from me SATAN! For it is written: Worship The Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Then the DEVIL left Him and angels came and attended Him. ACTS 4:12 (Speaking of Jesus) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Isaiah 45:21b (God) Was it not I, The Lord? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior: there is none like me. REVELATION 20:15 if anyone’s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire…meaniing HEL? God wouldn’t speak of these things to lead us astray, confuse or harm us. He loves us more than we can fathom until we are with Him. I wish there was no devil and no hell. I wish Jesus didn’t have to suffer and die on a cross for me, but I can’t pick what I want to believe from the Bible and discard what doesn’t “fit”. It’s all or none, either it’s all God’s Holy Word or none at all. I am not able to even explain the “witness of the Holy Spirit” within my soul while reading the Bible and how it seems God himself is speaking to me, but it happens. Again, blessings and Namaste!

  57. Please overlook all my errors!! Eyes aren’t focusing well plus alittle brain dead I think. Lol!

  58. John 14:6. Jesus answered, (Jesus’ words in red) “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Acts 4:12. (Peter speaking of Jesus) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given to men by which we must be saved. Luke 19:10 (Jesus’ words in red) “For the Son of Man (Jesus) came to seek and to save what was lost.”…(sinners). 1 John 4:13-16. We know that we live in Him and He in us, because he has given us His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son (Jesus) to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in Him (Holy Spirit) and he in God.

  59. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteousness, to bring you to God.

  60. John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him (Jesus) shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him (Jesus). Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (For their salvation and eternal life in Heaven)

  61. (Apostle Paul speaking, he was chosen by God in a dramatic moment on the road to Damascas when God spoke to him, his name was then Saul… Acts 1:1-19). Galatians 1:6-7 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the One who called you by the GRACE of CHRIST and are turning to a DIFFERENT gospel…WHICH IS REALLY NO GOSPEL AT ALL. Some people are throwing you into confusion and trying to PERVERT the gospel of Christ (which is that Jesus was born of a virgin, suffered and died on a cross for our sins, rose and ascended to Heaven to entercede to the Father for us as our High Priest). But even if we or an angel from Heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be ETERNALLY CONDEMNED! (Hell) As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching a gospel other than the one you accepted, let him be ETERNALLY CONDEMNED! Matthew 7:13-14. Enter through the narrow gate (Jesus). For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and MANY enter through it (a different gospel other that Christ). But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Christ Jesus), and only a FEW find it.

  62. Mark 8:33-37 But when Jesus turned and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter. “Get behind me Satan,” He said. “You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men”. Then He called the crowd to Him along with His disciples and said “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the GOSPEL (which is the GOOD NEWS of His death, burial and resurrection for our sins) will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? (Nothing!)
THERE IS VICTORY IN JESUS!! AMEN!

  63. As far as I have learned so far, there are only five things found in the Bible which Unity believes in and goes by: God created everything which exists; God loves us; God wants us to love ourselves; Jesus was a great teacher; Jesus showed us how to live. I wonder,,,if Unity thinks the Bible is a book made up by men who weren’t inspired by God, or that translators have done it all wrong, then why do they believe in ANY of it? How can they KNOW if what they believe is real? How can they KNOW God really even created everything? How can they really KNOW there was a man called Jesus? If I weren’t a Christian and have the witness of the Holy Spirit in my soul, I sure wouldn’t believe any of it! I would probably believe in the “Big Bang” creation, or that somehow everything just exists, or that I evolved from an ameba, atom, monkey or whatever! If God is not an entity who exists on a throne in Heaven, then I wonder where He went after He created everything in six days and rested on the seventh?? Did God cease to exist as the God of Creation and became only PART of His creation? Is His residing place now in the grass, leaves, animals, etc? Would I kneel before a tree or animal to pray instead of kneeling before His throne? Hummm…these are “new thoughts” I have been pondering. If there is no Heaven or Hell, then what happens to me when I die? Do I just cease to exist? I know my body returns to the dust God created Adam from, but where does my spirit go? Nowhere?? Unless of course I believe in reincarnation…sorry I’m not sharing my soul with anyone… the one God gave me is only mine! If whether I am in Heaven or Hell only depends on my state of mind and depends totally on me, seems I would be switching back and forth a lot between happiness (Heaven) and sadness or anger (Hell) over death of a loved one; over these murders in Paris; frustration of a lost job or misunderstandings with a friend; etc, and poor chronically mentally ill people who have violent mood swings ( I’ve known several), are they switching between Heaven and Hell from their own doing because they can’t control their mind and medicines don’t always work? Do they have no hope even if they’re Christians? I’m not a rocket scientist but God did give me a good amount of common sense and that makes NO SENSE to me whatsoever!! God who created us and loves us would NEVER have that be so…just as I wouldn’t for my children. I think I would choose being an atheist over believing my mind controlled my destiny on a moment by moment basis. Atheist aren’t concerned with either one. (sad) I was around a Unity person on a day recently and I guess she must have been in Hell by the way she acted, I love her. Should I have tried to help her get out??

  64. Athena says:

It’s one thing to state an opinion but to state it in a way that implies that it is fact is just wrong. A “cult” is imply a term given to any religious or spiritual system that exists on the fringes. Ask any historian and they will tell you this. What classifies any religion or cult seperate from the historical record is the experience of mystery, sometimes called magic. Faith, belief and anything of a spiritual nature fall into this realm. The only classification that truly exists between a “cult” and a “religion” is the number of people that ascribe to it. When many people ascribe to a belief system and it moves over time to a majority, that belief system gets classified as a “religion” before this time, it is considered occult or a cult. If you look up the definitions of these words you will learn that a cult is defined as “a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.” and the word occult is “supernatural, mystical, or magical beliefs, practices, or phenomena.” For you to make a claim that “The core Unity beliefs that make it a cult include …” are simply a statement of your opinion, not a fact. Not only is it a statement of your opinion, it is an inaccurate use of the word “cult.” Do your homework otherwise you are doing exactly what you accuse others of doing.

    • Hi Athena. This is not Gaz but I read your post to him and hope it’s ok with you if I comment. As a devout follower of Christ Jesus as Savior of mankind, I understand where Gaz is coming from and don’t believe he intended to offend anyone, just as I would never want to offend. I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and call myself a Christian, which according to the Bible defination of Christian is a follower of Jesus as the Savior…CHRISTian. Those who followed Christ as Messiah were first called Christians at Antioch. Since some people don’t believe the Bible is God’s inspired word, they are free to pick out what they want to believe and toss out the rest. I know I wouldn’t follow ANY of it if I believed that way. For me it is all true or none. I know the Bible was written on scrolls by men and in Greek and Hebrew. But according to the Bible they were inspired by God, our loving Father who knew we needed His wisdom and instructions. Nothing is impossible for God who spoke everything into existance, so don’t understand why some people find that hard to believe. I realize some words don’t translate well into English from the original languages, but the message of Jesus’ death on a cross as the only way God could save mankind, is the same in every Bible translation I have read and goes back to earliest translations, even before King James. There are over 300 prophecies about Jesus, ranging from His place of birth, the method of His death, even the amount of money He would be betrayed for. Jesus was sent to earth and accomplished many things; He proclaimed the Good News about the Kingdom of God( Heaven) He warned us about Satan and Hell, He came as a Light to a world of darkness, He taught about repentance and forgiveness, He fulfilled prophecy and set an example for us, but by far the most important is that He would save His people from their sins…and that is written over 100 times. It’s difficult for me to understand how anyone can read the Bible and miss out on the thing that matters most. I can understand why atheist don’t believe in Jesus as Savior since they don’t believe in God of Creation or the Bible, but It’s hard to understand how these “new thought” ideas can be believed by people who do believe in God when God says He never changes and when He says, hundreds of times, there is only one pathway to Him and it is Jesus. If men wrote the Bible it seems they would have made it that we could choose any path we wanted from the very beginning, instead of coming up with it now! Some denominations have already rewritten the Bible to read as they believe and it won’t be surprising if it happens more and more. Satan is alive and well and out to destroy the works of God…that’s what my Bible says! Could it be that Gaz’s post was actually meant as a warning? Could it be he was speaking Truth as God says to do? Could it be that even though he offended some people that God is well-pleased in him? God tells us to snatch others from the flames. Sorry so long but want to leave you with a last thought, ” I would rather live my life believing Jesus is the Savior and die to find He isn’t, than live my life believing He isn’t the Savior and die to find He is.” Love and blessings.

  65. Mane Garide says:

I Have A Religion And It’s Called Being A Good Person. but I do like Unity!
It seems like the Catholic Church invented a religion 300 years after Christ, based on several books written by man (not God), after manipulating & tergiversating old manuscripts in order to inflict domination as a governing authority so they can invade the New World, kill Indians, occupy foreign lands & extract gold, all of this “in the name of God”. The first Vatican council got rid off any book teaching self control & self improvement. Probably the finding of the Death Sea Scrolls in 1946 teaches the real liberating truth.
I believe that all religions are made to make you feel inferior, powerless, sinner so they can control you. Their Gods are always externals, you are never a shepherd rather a sheep.
I believe that we can cure any of our sicknesses since we were made in the image & likeness of God. Todays conflict are all “Holy Wars” or religious wars primarily caused or justified by differences in religion.

    • Mane…not Gaz but want to jump in here. I am a believer in Jesus Christ and the Bible, and while I may not know that EVERY single word of the original scrolls has been translated correctly from Greek and Hebrew, I am confident that the MESSAGE God wanted to give to us has remained the same down through the ages…we needed a Savior and God sent us Jesus. I have found such FREEDOM in knowing that my sins are forgiven when I am sorry for them. I agree with some of your thoughts about the Catholic Church. I told a Catholic friend recently that I wouldn’t make a good Catholic and quoted these reasons: I’m not calling a man Father as a spiritual title because I have only one Spiritual Father, He is in Heaven, and because the Bible says to call no man Father, Rabbi, or Teacher as a spiritual title, (our earthly father is ok though); I’m not going to confess my sins to a Priest because he is a mortal MAN and incapable of absolving or forgiving me. We no longer need Priests. That ended at Jesus’ death when the Temple curtain was torn in half, top to bottom the moment Jesus breathed His last breath, God showing us that Jesus now became the FINAL High Priest…His death the FINAL sacrifice… and we pray directly to Him through Jesus; I won’t pray to Mary because, even though she was found worthy to carry God’s Son, she was a mortal human being like the rest of us, and can’t hear or answer my prayers, she did not die on the Cross or rise from the dead for me. If the Bible said to pray to her then I certainly would, but it says the opposite. Oh, btw, my friend still loves me, lol! Another thing, Mary cannot still be called VIRGIN Mary, because the Bible says she and Joseph had no relations only until after Jesus was born. Also, the Bible tells the names of Jesus’ brothers and mentions His sisters, but not their names. 1Timothy 4: beginning at verse one, tells of a church whose doctrine is of DEMONS(some translations say DEVILS) Hope you will read it. God NEVER forbids anyone to marry or not to eat certain foods(like meats). In fact, He says all things are acceptable if received in prayer. Don’t know how they came up with the idea that their priests and nuns can’t marry. That is a man-made doctrine with Satan behind it, and the conquences are sadly evident. God doesn’t like RELIGION, He wants people who follow HIM with a believing heart and out of love for Him. There will be no denomination’s names in Heaven, only individuals who believe in God and who accepted Jesus as Savior. The Bible says so and I believe it in faith. Even though there may be some translation differences on a few words, God is capable of preserving His TRUTH for us if we seek it, even though many have perverted it. I believe only the Bible and that the Holy Spirit will guide me. I have found a church that follows the Bible closely. Nothing about it is “religious” or man-made rules. Blessings…

  66. Carmen says:

If you don’t agree with the teachings of Unity, that’s fine. That doesn’t make you right.

We live in a world with millions of people and a lot of different beliefs and religions, every person has different needs and challenges, and preferences. Do you really believe you are better than other people that doesn’t follow the Bible as the only guide for Truth? Do you think this judgment and separation that you are promoting is the role that Jesus wants you to play in this life? Attacking other ideas or belief systems does not make you a better Christian.

I hope you find your peace. I hope you feel inspired by Jesus to see the good in your fellow human beings, instead of fighting or attacking because their ideas do not match with yours.

Contrast is part of the human existence, learning to accept and appreciate our differences will create a better and more peaceful planet.

Imposing your ideas will only separate you, at the end… when we finish our life, there are not religions, only the goodness we cultivated within our hearts will count.

    Blessed be.

    • Rob says:

You are correct in that attacking one’s belief systems creates ill will. Personally I don’t see where anyone has been attacked, just merely pointing out facts and/or references contained within God’s word. I am sorry that you feel Christianity attacks Unity, and I make no apologies on behalf of zealots who care so deeply about another’s soul that they might be judged as being “offensive” Our bible teaches “Judge not lest ye be judged.” However, that same bible teaches that Christians are to be discerning. “Refrain from that which is evil.” “Ye shall know a tree by it’s fruit.” “You do not gather figs from thorns.” There is a distinct difference between judging and discerning. I would much rather discuss issues philosophically and rationally. I would much rather believe in a living God and find out he does not exist than to deny the existence of a true living God, only to find out he DOES exist. It is my prayer that you would come to know the eternal peace, joy, love and warmth of a living savior, Jesus, than to deny His deity only to later find out you were lost for all eternity.

      • Carmen says:

        So cliché! Talking about damnation.
I don’t believe in a God of punishment. I rather embrace a God of compassion and tenderness. A God that manifests itself in Every Single atom of the universe and makes no separations. I honestly wish much love, and I thank you for this experience, I feel very clear and happy about the ideas that naturally and freely emerged in my mind after reading your posts and some others. Focus on Love… If you want to experience love.

      • Hi Rob. We have visited before and our motives are the same…to plant seeds for Unity because we care about their souls. The last thing Jesus said to his disciples as He was ascending to Heaven was to go and make disciples(for Him and the Gospel message) baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He wants the same from us. We are not attacking them or judging their sins…that is God’s job, but it IS our job to tell them that Jesus is much more than just a way shower, He is Messiah and He wants to be their Savior. I used to witness often to a young woman I met through my job about Jesus. She was very much in need for Him to save her in all ways…very addicted to drugs and men, even giving away her children. I knew she didn’t appreciate it by the way she acted, but because I loved her, I couldn’t stop. After a couple of years she came to see me, to thank me for loving her enough to witness to her. She said I used to make her mad because the last person she wanted to hear about was Jesus, but she had been gloriously born-again and now understood. Her life began to change and now SHE was making people mad by her urgency in witnessing to them! Lol! There have been others since her and I pray many more.I am retired now, but my occupation of helping people in need exposed me to many, many people who needed to hear the Good News that Jesus wants to take their sins and give them a new life in Him. He can’t do that for ANYONE until they accept that He is Savior of mankind and make Him personally their Savior. I tell you this to encourage you to keep up the good work. We may not know until Heaven the lives we have made a difference in. God says His word will never return void and I count on it. Blessings and love in Christ.

        • Rob Ginn says:

          My Dear Sister in Christ,
Linda, it is always a blessing to read your posts. I believe we are like-minded and I count it all as joy to read your posts. Unfortunately Christians all too often have a tendency to shoot their own wounded and to come off as aggressively offensive in their zeal to witness to others, much like the apostle Peter cutting off the Roman Centurion’s ear. Gladly, you do not keep company in either of those camps.

This message is actually addressed to Carmen.

To my dear Carmen, there are many things I would like to share with you, all coming from a loving heart and not a judging one. It is my hope that you can accept what I am sharing in a spirit of love. I won’t “tell” you about my belief system, but will “share” with you elements of my Christian journey.

As a young teen I rejected the idea that a “loving” God could condemn me for my sins; after all, just how many “sins” could a young teen actually have! I dabbled in Yoga, meditation, mysticism, Eastern religions, Christian Science, Judeo beliefs, the whole gamut. For a while I was heavily influenced by actress Shirley MacLaine. I think much of this came from hearing the same message every Sunday – I was a sinner and I was going straight to hell. I rejected the notion and turned my back on “Christianity.” I already had a poor self-image, and now this “God” was somebody I didn’t like very much. As years passed, I tried to keep an open mind and I am very thankful for the Bible-believing Christians that came in to my life. One such zealous person gave me a copy of Hal Lindsey’s book “The Late Great Planet Earth.” The text of this book scared me to death and was responsible for me renewing my belief in a living God. Since then I have grown greatly in my belief system and have matured in to what I would like to believe is a Godly, “saved” Christian man.

I am no different than you Carmen. Life has brought me many challenges, but it has also allowed me to grow in my Christian beliefs. There is a stressor scale of life events where points are assigned to each experienced event. My events have included death of a step-daughter, kidnapping of my son, divorce, death of my dad on Christmas day 1983, cancer, a beloved sister with end stage Multiple Sclerosis, and the list goes on. An individual who experiences 88 points in a given period of time is considered to be at maximum stress. I hit over 330 points in less than 6 months. I was beginning to believe that my loving Lord had forsaken me and I began to slip once again in my Christian walk. After the kidnapping of my son, I blamed God for allowing this all to happen. There is a bible verse (Romans 8:28) that a friend shared with me and it reads “Remember, all things [not some, not a few, not most, but ALL THINGS] work together for good to them that love God to those who are the called according to His purpose.” This isn’t saying that all things are “good,” just that they WORK for our good. We may not see it now, but ultimately there is a purpose for everything. Things slowly began to gel and I was reminded of the Old Testament account of King Nebuchadnezzar and the three Hebrew children Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who are the three pious Jewish youths thrown into a “fiery furnace” by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, when they refuse to bow down to the king’s image according to chapter 3 of the book of Daniel. The three are all unharmed and the king sees four men walking in the flames, the fourth like “a son of god”. The Hebrew children were thrown in to the furnace bound by ropes, yet King N would witness them dancing around in the flames. The only thing those children didn’t have coming out of the fiery furnace that they had going in to it were the ties that were binding them. Sometimes our loving God has to allow us to go through the flames in order to remove those things in our life that were preventing us from experiencing His mercy and grace.

Two qualities of our loving God that I would like to share is His infinite mercy and infinite grace. If mercy is defined as NOT giving someone something they deserve (punishment), then grace would be defined as giving someone something they DON’T deserve. A loving parent does NOT punish, they discipline. The Criminal justice system devoid of “love” doesn’t discipline, it punishes. As part of a disciplinary action, a parent might ground an unruly child in favor of something deservedly more severe. This would be considered merciful in that the child received a lesser disciplinary action. The parent who bestows an unearned reward on a child would be gracious toward the child. I take exception to your term “damnation” in that damnation denotes Judgment. As I explained in an earlier post, there is a difference between Judging and Discernment. I am in no position to judge, only God can judge, and I do NOT judge you. As I stated earlier, I do know from my life experience that many “believers” can be most offensive, even if their hearts are well intentioned. God is merciful to His body of believers in that while we deserve “damnation” He is also gracious to allow those same believers in to His Heavenly eternity.

The second time I was having doubts about this loving God, I was again going through another rough period in my life. I started viewing God as a strict authoritarian figure, kind of like a “super-cop” policing my every move. Again, I heard every Sunday that I was a sinner and going straight to hell. I could see God with His arms folded disapprovingly across His chest. I could hear His booming voice yelling at me “ROBERT! I DON’T KNOW WHAT IN THE HELL I AM GOING TO DO WITH YOU!” Slowly I began to realize that I was only hearing a message of condemnation, not one of love and acceptance. Somehow, someway God’s Grace message was re-awakened in me and my picture of God began to change. Now I see God as a warm, grandfatherly-type being. I see him sitting in a rocking chair and I am seated on the floor at His feet. I feel His hand resting gently, approvingly on the top of my head, but most important I hear His voice peacefully saying to me “Robert, I know you can’t be perfect. If you could be perfect then I would not have to have sent my son Jesus to take your place and die on the cross. Robert, I love you just the way you are.” That has made all the difference.

So now when I face life’s trials and tribulations, I compare what I am going through to the pain and suffering Christ endured on that cross. In comparison, my pain and suffering can’t even begin to compare to Christ’s. It helps me when I keep things in perspective of the cross.

I was the Sunday School Director for a 5,000+ member Southern Baptist Church. While I identify myself as “Baptist,” I am a Christian first but the “Baptist” label is actually insignificant. I live in suburban Tampa, Florida, less than an hour’s drive from Disney’s Magic Kingdom. I used to use the following example with my elementary students and I would like to share it with you. I would ask the students if they believed the Magic Kingdom existed. Without fail, every hand would go up. Then I would ask the same group if they had been to the Magic Kingdom. Surprisingly only about half the student hands would raise. In Florida, residents tend to not always frequent those attractions, leaving those venues to the “tourists.” Then I would ask the kids “How do you get in,” meaning what do you have to do to gain admission. Answer – Mom or dad buys a ticket. Admission tickets to Disney are prohibitively expensive so I wasn’t surprised when they said someone else bought them a ticket. Then I would ask the kids why they believed the Magic Kingdom existed since they had never been there. Their response can be summed up in one word, “Faith.” Does it hurt the kids who believe it exists even though they had never been there? Of course not. For a believing Christian, this is exactly the scenario with regards to our God, His son and their kingdom. We can’t get in to heaven on our own, someone has to pay the price for the admission, and that someone is Jesus. He is far more than the “way-shower” as I believe Unity refers to Him as.

As a psychologist I believe there are two driving forces in life, that being (1) Goals and (2) Desires. First, we define Goals as situations over which we exercise complete or total control. Desires are defined as those situations where we exercise little or no control. The appropriate psychological response to a blocked goal manifests itself as righteous anger, whereas a blocked desire results in emotional pain, heartache etc. A fool is defined as one who eschews or laughs in the face of wisdom or knowledge. The fool then makes foolish “goals” out of blocked desires because the emotion of anger is much easier to deal with than sorrow or pain. Unfortunately, the fool will continue making foolish goals until they can stop and realize what they can or can’t control. This is very much the thought process behind the “Serenity Prayer” aka the “alcoholics prayer.”

One of the greatest problems in the U.S. is road rage. The fool says I am not going to cry about this idiot in front of me is driving too slow, I am going to call that person names and become angry with them. The result is that the fool has now unconsciously given control of their behavior over to another complete and total stranger. Clearly, I live in a nation of fools given the incidence of Road Rage. Clearly there are many foolish “Christians” who choose anger when dealing with non-believers.

Carmen, I apologize if I seem to be rambling. Please realize I do NOT judge you or Unity. There really is immeasurable, boundless love in the heart of many Christians. It is sadly unfortunate that the church has a history of crucifying non-believers in their zeal to win “converts.” It is unfortunate that the church does not better convey that message of love and acceptance. Please realize that I have NOT voiced any opinion about you or Unity and it is NOT my intention to do so. It is my prayer that you keep an open mind and have a heart that is receptive to the saving message of Jesus Christ, our Lord and savior.

Whether we choose to believe an object exists or doesn’t exist has no effect on the object. As I previously stated, I would much rather believe in a Christian God only to find out He doesn’t exist, than to NOT believe and find out He really does exist.

I am a retired hospital administrator and a former Vice President of Patient Services having seen as many as 90 patients every day. I would always leave my patients with one simple message – “Bloom where you are planted.” It is my prayer that you too bloom where you are planted. May this message find you in excellent health and abundant spirit.

With much agape for you Carmen and to Linda,
          Rob G.

          • Hello Brother in The Lord. Yes we ARE like-minded and I also count it all joy to read your posts. I enjoyed your testimony so much! Wow…What a journey you went on to find the Truth God intended us to know when He gave us the Bible! He who searches and knows our hearts is faithful to claim us as His own if our pursuit is for the Truth at all cost. You are proof of that! We both know there is only ONE Truth, even though Satan has blinded some well-meaning people to it. It is my prayer that God will not allow them to be content forever believing it is okay with Him, if they ignore His sacrifice of His Son, when He tells us Salvation is found in no other name other than Jesus. Jesus’ death would have been in vain, unnecessary, if there were other ways to God. There is not one way for some…Jesus, and other ways for others of their own choosing. If that was possible why did God allow the pain and suffering Jesus endured on the cross? It makes no sense to me how intelligent people can believe only PART of who Jesus is, saying He came to show us how to live…which is true, but then a line is drawn…period, the end, nothing about Jesus’ MAIN reason for coming to be the “way-shower”, if you will , SHOWING us our WAY to Our Heavenly Father. My journey was much different from yours. I was saved at age 10 and have never doubted God’s existance and that Jesus was the Savior. However, I went through much heartache and pain to finally arrive at a moment of surrendering my WHOLE …out of control life… to God and allowing Him to be my Lord. Until then He was my Savior but not my Lord. I was still on the throne trying to call my own shots…which wasn’t working. I call it the worst/best day of my life and now can say I’m thankful for all the pain which lead me to that day, because it brought me closer to God and His will for my life. Of this I am sure: God loves me; Jesus saved me; I will live with them in Heaven forever; AND…one day I’ll get to meet you there too!! For now, btw, I also live in FL. Blessings.

    • Hi Carmen. I come in love and by the way, love your name too! As one who believes the whole context of the Bible points to Jesus the Anointed One, as the Messiah, the Savior, I am in no way meaning to come across as argumentive, bossy or critical, for that is not who I am. Just want to give you some things to meditate on and maybe even you will look them up in the Bible. All through the Old Testament God tells us things which point to the coming of Jesus as the Savior of all mankind. Webster’s defination of Messiah…”A person who is expected to save people from a very bad situation.” Christian comes from the Greek word “cristianos” which is derived from the word “christos” or Christ, which means “Anointed One.” Webster’s defination for Christian…”A person who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ.” Jesus taught us many things about love, healing, forgiving, truthfulness, and so much more. He taught us about God and His forgiveness. He taught us about repentance and salvation. He taught us about Heaven and Hell and warned us about Satan, how crafty and cunning he is. God doesn’t say to believe part of Jesus’ teachings and ignore those which don’t fit what we choose to believe or have been taught. Unity’s grave error is that they only believe in part Jesus’ teachings and ignore the rest. They call Him their way shower on how to love and live and do not recognize Him as Messiah, Anointed One, Savior. God appointed John the Baptist to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins to the people and prepare their hearts for Jesus’ soon coming. Some believed and were baptized, some did not. John the Baptist and Jesus both threatened the religious leaders of that day with their new and different Gospel. John the Baptist was beheaded, Jesus was crucified, neither deserved to be put to death. Of course we know by scripture, that Jesus’ birth was for this very purpose. He is the promised Messiah of the Old Testament. He is the Anointed One. He is Savior. Jesus said, “I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.”… Found in John 14:6. You said at the end there will not be all these religions and I believe that too. But I have to disagree that what counts will be the goodness in our heart, even though there should be. I believe what counts will be that Jesus is in our heart as Savior, because that is what the Bible says. I believe the Bible is the ONLY guide for SPIRITUAL truth and that this is the role Jesus wants me to play, to share the Good News about Jesus to others. Because I believe it strongly and have the witness of the Holy Spirit within me, I would be wrong not to share. If a person doesn’t believe the Bible is God- breathed, then it just becomes a book we can pick and choose from for self-help. I have read some really good self-help books that center on ME, ME, ME. God wants us to center on HIM and He will mold us into who HE wants us to be, for the reasons He created us. I am not a movie star, don’t have a title before my name and am not wealthy as money goes, but I assure you, God has put great joy in my heart and I know He is pleased with me. In closing, about time huh??…lol! God loves us more than we can begin to imagine and He would not have left His creation without instructions from Him to help us. No big chore for someone who spoke the world into existence. I wish every single person would read the Bible with an open mind and searching for truth for themselves. God is faithful to answer our sincere questions. Love and blessings.

      • Joyce Wolf says:

Amen! I have a new friend who is in Unity and I said I would look to see what I think about it. I see huge differences in the core beliefs between myself as an American Baptist and their core beliefs. I am not sure how to kindly express the differences for fear of causing a conflict between us.

        • Hello Joyce. I too have a fairly new friend in Unity so I understand what you are saying. She is the reason I have read everything I could find about their beliefs and am sick at heart with what I have learned. Satan has come as an angel of light and deceived them. I’m sure you learned Unity doesn’t believe Heaven and Hell are places to go to after death, but is here and now according to their state of mind. They don’t believe there is a Satan…but by far the biggest deception is that Jesus is only their Way Shower…not their Savior. My friend was raised Baptist, so I was hoping she only went there with friends and either didn’t really believe as they do or that maybe she wasn’t aware of their beliefs. I was waiting until I had the opportunity and for the Holy Spirit to “nudge me” to speak to her about it, but…after 6 months that never happened and I now believe I know why. In a recent conversation with several present, she mentioned reincarnation, which many in Unity believe in. When I said I didn’t believe in reincarnation because it’s not found in the Bible, she became defensive and said she didn’t take the Bible literally but knew I did, and only believes in the teachings of Jesus….how to live in love and forgiveness. When I asked her why she didn’t take the Bible literally, she became alittle hostile and said HER God WOULD NOT ask Abraham to kill his son!! The Holy Spirit closed my mouth and at that moment I became aware that my friend would never receive anything I would ever say to her. Spiritual things have to be revealed by God and my responsibility is to pray for her. So I want to say pray, pray, pray for your friend and mine too, and I will pray for yours also. They are in eternal danger because to them Jesus is not their Savior, when He Himself said no man can enter Heaven except through Him. I don’t think I would bring the subject up if I were you, and if she does I would just tell her in love that you and she will just have to agree to disagree on your faith. Stand firm though that the Bible is God’s inspired word! There are no accidents to God and I believe our friends are in our lives for a reason. We may be the only people praying for them. Blessings to you!

  67. Rob, this is for you. I forgot something I wanted to ask you…your son who was kidnapped…was he returned to you? Hoping so. That would be almost more than a person could bear…only God’s comfort and strength would make it possible to go on. Also, When my life and 31 yr marriage was falling apart (which led me to my worst/best day) I ran across Roman’s 8:28, believed and claimed it also. I would tell God, “I don’t understand why this is happening but I’m going to trust You and Your word.” In the end, it REALLY did work out for the good of God and for me…of course! God never lies! I wish there could have been another way. I wish I could have kept my marriage, but God gives us free will and it was what my husband thought he wanted and I couldn’t stop him. He has suffered loss because of it, financially and with our children. My loving Heavenly Father has taken great care of me. Believe me, I KNOW my help comes from The Lord…Psalm 121:2. Love in Jesus.

  68. Jim Kotowski says:

People try to defend their beliefs with partial truths, or untruths. Everyone has a few pieces of the puzzle, but no one has the whole puzzle. Unity says nothing that conflicts with biblical teaching, in fact the Bible is the basis of it. It’s emphasis on Jesus more as someone who shows us the way and less as someone that we must proclaim as our savior does put more of the responsibility on the individual believer to align his consciousness with that of God–“on Earth as it is in Heaven”. But this in no way excludes God or Jesus, rather it is an invitation to seek Their level. Keep in mind that Christianity itself was considered a cult at one time, and is itself a hodgepodge of beliefs common to the locality where it was “born”, with a couple of new twists. Keep in mind that it was the Catholic Church which decided which books to include in the Bible, and which ones to destroy. Keep in mind that all denominations have featured pastors who sinned quite horribly. Keep in mind that Jesus counsels humility–“It is not I, but the Father working through me, who does the work”–and that claiming possession of the absolute truth, while depicting other denominations only as dangerous cults, is not even close to being humble. Who among you can claim that the truth you know is the only truth, and that you yourself understand that truth perfectly and therefore can pass judgement on those who seem to differ from it? You are no better than the Pharisees–the only people, besides the moneychangers in tthe Temple, that made Jesus mad enough to shout at. Hypocrites! Fools! Repent! Rethink your ways!…Each of us is every character in the Bible. We are Christ, we are Peter who failed Him, we are Judas who betrayed Him, we are the Pharisees who didn’t understand Him, we are Joseph and Mary who raised Him. You call yourself “sinners” but then trust your own judgement completely, as if Jesus Himself were talking through you! If you are not enduring ostracism from the established and comfortable religion of your time, as Jesus did, then maybe you are doing something terribly WRONG! If you are not comforting the disturbed, AND disturbing the comfortable (within yourself and your own church), as He did, then you are no Jesus. You are more like a Pharisee. But Jesus Himself gave you the choice to repent and embrace the Divine within yourself–“Whoever believes in me, the things which I do he shall do also; and greater things than these he shall do.” And I don’t think He meant that the “greater” things believers would do would be to simply feel smug and superior in their beliefs–that right there, self-righteousness, is nothing more than a drug, and we are its addicts. Proverbs, 21:24: “The proud and arrogant person–Mocker’ is his name– behaves with insolent fury.”

    • Hi Jim. I saw your post to Gaz and wish to comment. Sometimes Christians can offend out of our zeal to witness to others. God does tell us to be bold though. John the Baptist was bold and crude in preparing the way… the people’s hearts… for Jesus’ soon coming. He even called them a brood of vipers, yet God says He was the greatest man born of a woman(naturally). Jesus was bold when He turned over the tables at the Temple, He was bold when He called people hypocrites and blind guides, bold when He scolded Peter for cutting off his captors ear, saying, “Get behind me Satan!” If Jesus walked into Unity in the flesh, I believe He might be shouting, “You hypocrites! Why do you call yourself CHRISTians and yet deny that I am Christ the Savior?? Why do you say salvation is within yourself, when I say there is no name other than mine by which you can be saved?? “I AM the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE and NO MAN comes to the Father except through me”!! Why do you carry God’s Word and yet call it a basic history and allegorical textbook?? You have been warned not to add or take away from God’s word!! Why have you done away with my sacraments of baptism and communion when I said to do them for the remission of sin and in rememberance of me?? How can you say Heaven is not a real place to go at the end of your life when I told you before I ascended that I go to prepare a place for you?? How can you ignore my warnings by saying Hell is not a real place or Satan a real entity?? I wouldn’t have told you so if it weren’t true. Why do you think I warned you that Satan masquerades himself as an angel of light and uses false prophets such as Charles Fillmore to preach a different Gospel than the one I gave you, which is no gospel at all?? Can’t you see Satan has taken your eyes off of me and put them on yourselves?? Does the pain and agony I suffered in your place mean nothing to you?? You were given all knowledge and instruction you needed, to believe in me and to resist the devil. God did not leave His Creation as orphans. He has never had a new thought He forgot to tell you from the beginning. It astonishes me how you limit God who created you and the universe!! How you could ever believe He is unable to protect His Word for those who love Him, even if it be a million years before He tells me to go get His Children?? I am warning you to WAKE UP!! Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. I come so you may have eternal life. I love you.

    • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

In response to Jim Kotowski: The Bible is precious to me because it is the means God speaks to me. I believe it when God says ALL scripture is breathed by Him and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…2 Tim 3:6. I believe it when God says Prophecy NEVER had its origin in the human will, but instead THROUGH humans, who spake from Him as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit… 2 Peter 1:21. I believe a God who spoke the whole world into existance in only six days is capable of doing this for us. I believe it when Jesus said He is the WAY and the truth and the life and that NO ONE can come to the Father except through Him… John 14:6. I believe it when Jesus told us to enter through Him, the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad the road (any other way) that leads to destruction and MANY enter through it… Matt 7:13-14. I believe in a literal Heaven where God dwells because Jesus told His disciples the night before He was crucified that in His Father’s house were many rooms and He was going to prepare a place for them and that if He go to prepare for them, He would come again and take them to Himself, that where He was they may be also…John 14:2. I believe in a literal Hell because God warns us not to fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. He says rather to be afraid of One (Himself) who can destroy both soul and body in Hell…Matt 10:28. I do not believe in serving God out of a trembling fear of Him, but instead out of love and reverence, knowing though that He is not only a loving Father but also a just Judge, who will not accept anyone who does not accept that His crucified Son made a way for them to come to Him. A human judge must sentence people according to laws and their crime. He can not change his verdict even if he would like to. God is no different and says He never changes…Malachi 3:6. I do not believe Heaven and Hell are only in the state of being of my mind and under my control. How arrogant that would make me feel, because God says otherwise. If this were the case Jesus never needed to come to earth to die for me. I would be my own god and in charge of my own destiny. Because I believe the Bible is God’s word, I do not believe Jesus’ only purpose was to show us how to live, even though He did. His greater purpose was to be our crucified Savior and lead us to His Father. If I believed only part of who Jesus is because the rest makes me feel uncomfortable or not in control, it is like me telling God He made a mistake and didn’t really mean what He said. Or if I believed the writers got it right about Jesus as way-shower but wrong about Jesus as Savior, then how would I know there was ever really a man called Jesus who walked upon the earth?? Maybe they were wrong about that too. For me the Bible is all true or none true. It is either God’s word or not. It’s true there have been many translations since the original scrolls and words don’t always translate well…BUT…the THEME God wanted me to know was the same for hundreds of years from the earliest Bibles, until men started writing their own versions to support their “new thoughts” given them by Satan. The theme is simple; I needed a Savior to save me from the sinful nature I inherited from Adam and Eve, Jesus came from Heaven to earth to be born as a man, taking my sins to the Cross to be crucified with Him if I believe it and He will call me up to the place prepared for me one day at the sound of a trumpet Gabriel will blow, whether I be alive or in the grave. That’s it in a nutshell and I can’t wait!

  69. snowly says:

“JW denies the bible as the final word of God”??? U crazy!!!

  70. snowly says:

As far as im concerned this is false religion attacking another false religion! U are no better than this unity church. Its so disgusting when people base simple bible teachings on their own opinions. Just wasted 5min of my life reading thus stupid blog. In fact i suspect u are an atheist in disguise!!

  71. Jesse says:

Reasons why Unity is bad: Because like other Oppressor’s of Religion, they use the FALSE IMAGE of Yeshua as Cesare Borgia (the Pale-skin). When everyone who ACTUALLY reads the Bible for themselves and do their OWN research KNOW that Yeshua was/is Black! So are YAHUAY. The reason for the continued, “Little-White-Lies” is that the MAJORITY of People get ANGRY and EMBARRASSED. They should be cause the REAL Hebrew-Israelites are Black/Dark as well. If anyone is paying attention: The REAL Hebrew-Israelites are the so called: Afro-Americans, Native & South-Americans, Many so called Hispanic. Although they must have the Negro Blood. Israel is a Blood-line, not a place on Earth. WAKE UP!!!

    • Well Jesse, reading your post has left me alittle confused by some of your comments. I agree with you that Unity is a “bad” religion, but my reasons have nothing to do with the color they believe Jesus’ skin to be, but has everything to do with: not believing He is the Savior of all mankind and believing there are many pathways to God, that the Bible is only stories and can’t be taken literally, there is no Satan and that Heaven and Hell are not literal places to go to after death. I have never found in the Bible where It says Jesus is black so you will need to post me where to look for those scriptures that cause you to think He is. The Bible doesn’t state that Jesus was TAN-skinned but because He was a Jew, we can know He was. But again I say, skin color doesn’t have anything to do with our salvation. About Israel…God had to choose a location where Jesus would be born and He chose Israel. He loves Israel. God calls Israel His “firstborn son”(Exodus 4:22), “the apple of His eye”and that He will raise His hand against whoever touches Israel (Zechariah 4:8-9). God will curse a nation who is against Israel and bless a nation who is for Israel. You can count on it!!

  72. "AWAKE" says:

YOU ARE SOOoooooo>>>> IGNORANT!!! AND STILL A LOST SHEPARD,,. JESUS WAS A MAN [YASHUSA ] ‘THE ROMANS RE-NAMED HIM SO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH COULD USE HIM FOR CONTROL OF THE PEOPLE FOR ALL TIME!!! THEIR THE ONES WHO CRUCIFIDED HIM SO THE JEWS COUD SAVE FACE!!! OBVIOUSLY YOU’VE CLEARLY BOUGHT INTO THE GREAT CONSPIEIRECY…! STUDY WHAT “CHIRST” SAID TO THE PHARISEES. YOU RE-READ IT FOR YOR SELF SATAN!!! THEN STUDY THE OTHER GREAT TEACHINGS AND THINK AND NOTICE THE CONNECTION’S THRU TIME AS TO THE MANY REFERINCES TO THE MANY TEACHINGS OF “THE CHRIST” OF GOD!!! GHRIST IS THE ONLY FIRST BEGOTTEN OF “GOD”. NO WONDER THE OTHER PEOPLE OF THE “MOTHER” [ HOLY SPIRT ] OF THE WORLD ARE FED UP WITH CHRISTIANS…. HIPOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!! ” JOHN ” THE REVALATION GIVER SAID IT BEST GOD IS [ SIMPLY ] “THE ENERGY OR POWER” LOVE!!!!!!!! THE 1st AND 2nd COMMANDMENTS YOU POMPAS UN-ENIGHTEND “FALSE TEACHER” LOVE AND MAY YOU WAKE-UP FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!!!!!! AMEN – OM – ALOHA!

    • To Awake. I found your comments strange and sarcastic. The Bible NEVER calls the Holy Spirit MOTHER! It should be no surprise, but always is, what people’s imaginations can come up with and they believe it as fact and God’s word!! We Christians are “different” from some people because we believe the Bible to be inspired by God, but we are only hypercrites, as you say, if we believe it and don’t try to live it, or if we try to “blend” with others by not standing up for God’s word when we should. Funny to me how some people will say they believe God created the world in six days but believe Him incapable of passing down His Gospel message of salvation and Truth to those of us who love and trust Him. He gave us all we needed from the beginning. He knew we would need it living in Satan’s world. We need no “new thought” or “different Bible message” from the one handed down through the ages in the earliest Bibles. He says “there is nothing new under the sun” and “I change not”. The simple truth is; Jesus died and rose for all mankind who believes and accepts that He is the Savior and pathway to God. To understand this simple fact in God’s word doesn’t require us to be a genius, have great worldly knowledge or be able to read Greek and Hebrew. God didn’t make it hard! I prefer to call people DECEIVED who choose to believe a “different gospel”…which by the way God says is no gospel at all…rather than ignorant. Satan is the father of desception and lies, always has been since he was thrown out of Heaven and will be as long as is allowed by God. So, AWAKE, my prayer is that you live up to your name!

  73. Letticia Mariscal says:

Again another cult. So many fall for these kinds of false teaching . There is only one true God. And that is a Jesus Christ our Lord. Catholicism is the truth. It may hurt you but never harm you.

    • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

AMEM Letticia! There is only One TRUE God (big G) but LOTS of gods, (little g)…big difference!…and YES! It is the Lord Jesus Christ!!

  74. Linda Jolene Garou says:

I wish to use this website for another type of desception…Hillary for president! Christians, my prayer is that you will listen with your HEART to my words and not be fooled by Trumps outward transgressions…some true and some I believe made up. Satan is at work here trying to mislead people by using Donald Trump’s past against him. Don’t be fooled! No way does Satan want Trump to be president! Not only because this smart “imperfect” man could make a difference in so many ways, but because he stands for Godly principals in ways Hillary does not. 1. Trump believes in the sanctity of life and we KNOW God does! He says He formed us in the womb. He started every little heart beating and what right does man have to stop it? He doesn’t!! Abortion should not be a form of birth control, that should be taken care of BEFORE there is a heartbeat. I too believe a woman has rights concerning her OWN body, BUT, a baby WITHIN her body IS…NOT…HER…BODY, it’s the body of an innocent new life, created by God. 2. Trump believes marriage should be between a man and a woman. So does God, otherwise, He says it is an abomination and a reprobate mind. God formed Eve for Adam, giving each of them the anatomy to produce children. He told them to reproduce and fill the earth. He couldn’t say that to people with like anatomys, they can’t reproduce. 3. Donald Trump wants to put prayer back in schools and we KNOW God is not against that, but that Satan is and will do everything in his power to have the person least threatening to him be elected. As a devout Christian who loves Jesus, I have read in the Bible about many “imperfect” people God used for His purposes because of their HEART. Moses was a murderer, Jonah was bad natured and disobedient, Rahab was a prostitute, King David was a murderer and adulterer, Peter was prideful and a liar (denying Christ three times to protect himself, Saul(who later was called Apostle Paul) was killing Christians before his conversion. God says, “Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the HEART.” Donald Trump has a good heart by all accounts from his children, his employees and people in need he has used his wealth to give a helping hand to, with no benefit of his own. The new leaked emails show a different Hillary than the one she presents herself to be. We already knew she lied about her emails and about her dishonesty in trying to cover for herself. Now we know she will step on ANYONE to achieve her goals. If I were a Democrat…I once was…I would run from Hillary Clinton. If I were Bernie Sanders or his supporters I certainly would too. I wish everyone would watch the movie “Hillary’s America”, true facts taken from historical accounts about the Democrat party and slavery, and about the Clintons. A real eye opener! Bill Clinton got away with his affair with Monica & others WHICH TOOK PLACE IN THE WHITEHOUSE while he was supposed to be working for us taxpayers who were paying his salary!! His affairs in Little Rock were already known about by some but he was elected anyway. I liked Kennedy but everyone knew about his womanizing too. There should not be a different standard for Democrats! Only two choices here; elect Hillary and expect nothing to change and even get worse, or give Trump the chance to make a difference. He truly wants to and I believe he is smart enough to accomplish it.

  75. Erlene Flowers says:

What a bunch of crap. Do you accept the concepts of the current Bible that has been rewritten by man for his benefit. You reference King James Bible., which was re written to benefit a King. Jesus did not use a Bible. Have u read the Jewish Torah? This was the reading that Jesus used. Really! Jesus was a middle eastern olive complexed man with curly hair, These are facts. He was not white!! You probably want to claim that that is wrong too.

  76. Dan Mount says:

Fillmore was a very intelligent man. He realized the same things that all great spiritual teachers realized. The divine is in the living body and not in the dead one. Love is an energy. The bible and eternal life is man made. All true teachers realized that the energy of love is what sustains us as humans. The angry god of the bible is a primitive myth and so is an afterlife. If folks were so sure of heaven, why do so many so called Christian Preachers fleece their flocks for millions? It a bunch of BS. At least Fillmore was more practical. But still, everyone dies! The Greek Tradgedy! Religion is the denial of death!! There is no big man in the sky!! It’s BS!!

    • Jac says:

God is not angry, you have not read the entire Bible not understood it if that is what you think. God is mercifull and loving and slow to anger. Did you have a healthy fear of your parents and know that there would be consequences if you made a choice that might hurt you? It’s the same with God, it’s a healthy fear and respect and obedience. Has Charles Fillmore been around since the beginning of time? Has his Word endured forever or will it ensure forever like God’s Word? Of course not..that should say something to you in and of itself. I pray that you will no longer be deceived by this false doctrine as my mom has. You will not be reincarnated as they promise you! You don’t have power within yourself to do anything, only God does! God bless you!

      • Linda Jolene Garou says:

You spoke the truth Jac, and said it so well. Maybe you can answer a question for me since you may know alittle from your mom. It is my understanding that Unity does believe in God as the Creator, but since they don’t believe He is a real entity who sits on a throne in Heaven, what do they say happened to Him, where did He go, after He finished creating? I’ve never heard that explained in anything I’ve read in their doctrine. Do you know? Thanks and Blessings.💕

        • Jac says:

That’s a good question, I have never posed that question to my mom. Once you start to study their beliefs, none of it makes a bit of sense. So, I have no clue how they explain that one. They seem to make up things to questions like that by taking scripture and twisting it. So, they probably have some twisted answer for that question as well. Smh!

          • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

You are right, they probably do have a twisted answer, since most of what they believe can’t be supported by the Bible. Since Unity believes the Bible is only correct about the things that fit their doctrine, saying all else is only allorgories or errors, and since pretty much their core doctrine centers only on the teachings and examples of Jesus showing us how to live and love…their way-shower, not their Savior, I have another question I would like to ask one of them: “Since you believe so much of the Bible is only stories and errors, how can you know there was even ever a man named Jesus who walked on earth? What if that’s only a story as well and not really true? If Jesus didn’t really exist, where does that leave you in what you believe? What if the whole Bible is only a storybook, as you believe most of it to be anyway?” The Bible is either all true or none true and if I believed as they do I couldnt have faith in anything it says. It would be harder to believe as they do than to believe as we do. The Gospel is so simple and they’ve missed it…in spite of their good intentions. So sad. Thanks for your reply. Keep praying for your mom and Unity.

My mom took me to Unity Church while I was growing up. Their teachings seemed nice enough, ‘peace on earth’ , ‘everybody/every religion is good’ , ect. ect. They would have us kids go on a retreat every year where they would teach us meditation and songs that would help us spiritually. There wasn’t ever any abuse that I knew of but when I became a teenager I really started to get turned off by this ‘religion’ . I went through many years of confusion trying to figure out how how to be my best ‘spiritually’. I don’t know where I first heard about Jesus Christ I think it may have been in a preschool I attended but to me I kind of always had a calling in me that Jesus was Lord but I kept rejecting him as I was taught that there were good things in all religions and to kind of buffet style pick and choose from all religions. Unfortunately, I didn’t accept Jesus until I was in my early 20’s. I wish I could take back allot of what I did prior to me accepting Jesus as my savior, but thankfully he made the sacrifice for me and my sins are wiped clean. Unity really promotes to it’s followers that you can do whatever you want if it makes you feel good as long as you are living by your own ‘Truth’ and ‘Godliness’. Unfortunately, what Unity Church doesn’t let it’s followers know is it doesn’t matter how much you meditate, sing or ‘scientifically pray’ you can’t save yourself, only Jesus saves. Unfortunately, my mom still attends this ‘church’ and really tried for a while to get me to come back. It is sad, I have tried to tell her that what she is doing is really rejecting the sacrifice Jesus made for her. It is sad that many people there believe they can save themselves by doing good deeds and meditating.

Redeemed…i am so happy for you that you found the real living God and that Jesus is your savior. To find this truth after being brought and indoctrinated in Unity beliefs, is proof that God exists and how much He loves you to not have left you there. It’s very sad that so many well-meaning and God-seeking people find this cult. It’s sad they only think of Jesus as their way-shower and not the Savior of ALL mankind. I liked what you said about not being able to save yourself. I have a friend in Unity. My question is, is there a good way to witness to her? She told me she doesn’t take the Bible literally and without that basis to stand upon, she can dispute any truth I tell her. It’s very frustrating. I have quite a few posts on this site trying to witness to Unity but they are so convinced their way is one of many ways it makes it hard for them to see that there are not many ways, but only one and His name is Jesus. Praying for them is about the only and best thing to do I have decided. I am praying that any of Unity who reads your post will see the truth and be saved. God bless you!

  78. Jennifer says:

Cult? I guess if you want to define a “cult” as any belief system that you don’t agree with then I see the point that you are trying to make. If you are using the word “cult” to describe a group that seeks to control your life and prevent you from leaving, then no. It is simply a group of people who do not share your beliefs about the nature of God.

    • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

Jennifer…I come in love and in the name of the Lord, maker of Heaven and earth.🙏 My prayer is that I will be received in that same spirit. The earliest Scriptures date back to almost 1500 BC(before Christ) and were carved on clay tablets. Our years were established on Christ Jesus’ birth…hence anything happening before His birth is known as BC…not WS…not Way-Shower. My point in saying this is that Jesus was called Christ…or Savior…not Way-Shower… from the beginning of records. Yes, Jesus did come to show us the way to live but most importantly, to show us the WAY TO HEAVEN. In fact, Jesus Himself said there is no salvation except through Him.The earliest Bible’s had always portrayed Jesus as the door, narrow path, narrow gate, the only way, until mere men started coming up with a “different” gospel, which God warned us about and says if it’s not the one HE presented…then it is no gospel at all. The meaning of God’s Holy Word and HIS Gospel message began to be changed by some men…Charles Fillmore being one, who didn’t like God’s way and so they came up with their own man-made way which they found more pleasing for what they CHOSE to believe. The Truth was exchanged for a lie, unknowingly, they were used by Satan to pervert the Gospel of Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection as the only way for Eternal Life in Heaven. So here is my question I want to ask you and I hope you will answer it: Since the earliest Bibles present the Gospel of Jesus Christ and call Him Savior of mankind, why would anyone want to start believing a different gospel which Charles Fillmore came up with in 1889? Or how COULD they unless they were deceived? Since Mr Fillmore changed the Gospel of Christ, since he taught the Bible to be fallible and much of it only allegories, his followers would have to remember what HE taught them while reading the Bible so anything different could be discarded as fiction or error in translation. How then can they know there was even a man called Jesus who walked on earth? If the Bible is mostly man-made and stories as Unity believes, Jesus could have been just a nice story also, an allegory with a hidden meaning. Isn’t Unity taking the word of a MAN instead of the Word of GOD? God, who had the ability to create EVERYTHING which exists, also has the ability to preserve His word, the Bible, until the year 2017 and until the end of time. My message for Unity is: God says He changes not. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If He wanted a different Gospel than the one He gave me in the beginning, He wouldn’t have waited until 1889 to give it to me by way of a man, it would be the one in my Bible right now. He wouldn’t have told me that Jesus Christ is my Savior and faith in Him is the only way He will allow me into Heaven. He would have told me I am my own Savior and that I am responsible for whether I am in Heaven or Hell. I held the Bible one day and asked God to show me HIS Truth, not anything I had ever been taught my entire life. I meant it, He knew and answered. If everyone would ask Him this seeking truth with their whole heart, He will do the same for them. I can assure you He DID NOT show me what Unity believes. If we can’t pray and expect God to hear and answer, we are limiting Him and praying would be useless. Love and blessings…

  79. REDEEMED says:

Jennifer, I do understand that cult may be a strong word for Unity Spiritual Centers. But unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that Unity is a lie. Unity pretty much feeds it’s followers the philosophy that they can self help their way to spiritual well being. They don’t teach about a savior, or sins for that matter. In essence it is a total free for all. Growing up in their youth groups they essentially condoned any sort of behavior as long as you weren’t hurting yourself or others. Our youth leader who was middle aged openly let us know that God created men to have inherent ambition to go after many women,so therefore it is ok for men to go after many women since God created them that way. You essentially picked and choosed teachings that make you feel good and as long as they didn’t hurt others and better yet, created more ‘peace on Earth’ it was all good. We did have one youth leader that did teach about the Bible but she was replaced rather quickly. I thank God that she planted the seed in my mind and heart about God’s word. It really wasn’t until I was in my mid-20’s that I got saved. Essentially, I was living in full sin and going against God’s word in every way. I didn’t save myself till marriage and promoted a lifestyle of self gratification. I truly believed that as long as I was being nice to others, creating peace on Earth, God would welcome me with open arms. My fiance at the time and I were happy but our sinful ways brought us to rock bottom and I thank God for that, for that is when I realized God didn’t give us his Word and commandments because he is spiteful and controlling. He gave us his word and commandments because he loves us and he knows sin destroys us. His word says the wages of sin is death. I realized at rock bottom that I was a sinner and at that point, it didn’t matter how much good I did there was nothing that was going to change that, at that moment I realized the inherent need for a savior and I accepted Jesus as my savior. I realized all I had done wrong and asked him to come into my life and to be the savior of my soul. Unfortunately, there is a great many people at Unity Spiritual Center today that are being fooled into believing they can pick and choose different ways of thinking in order to make themselves right spiritually. I pray my family will someday come to know Jesus as their savior, but to be honest they may just have to reach rock bottom in their lives to start looking up to our Lord instead of to themselves and to their own understanding.

REDEEMED…what a beautiful post I just read which you wrote to Jennifer. I felt your tender spirit of wanting to share truth with her. Surely no one could believe you are judging or just being critical. I believe without a doubt that God sent that Sunday School teacher to you to plant the seeds which would later bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. God has prepared you for an awesome ministry! He will bless you and be with you all the way. The signs are evident that Jesus’ returning is close and so many good people are deceived. GOD BLESS YOU dear sister in the Lord.🙏🙏🙏

I would like to say that this church branch has a very open approach to christian worship. It’s very liberal. Very different to what I’m used to. When you read the article it confirms this. It’s mainline faith is Judaism – although it welcomes all faiths to join together. The Eccumension movement ecc. It outwardly seems very popular when I’ve seen youtube services. As I say this church does a lot for people’s rights – in
particular for minority group christians in society it goes out its way to. I feel unity churches are more so a meeting
place. I think the way it worships is
    different to conservative churches with
Psalms. I don’t understand why this branch of Christianity doesn’t celebrate the trinity, the birth of baby Jesus. The faith doesn’t follow extremes either.
I think it depends what you are looking
for from a faith itself. It stands for
political correctness – very much so. In the local church where I know.
As I say the congregation don’t all
follow the same ideal/ value faith angle
so you get a mix of faith value ideals. Of which can make a interesting set of people from all walks of life. For attendees of this faith. That may
suit some people. If you’re looking for specifics it won’t work.

  81. Teabag says:

I have a lot to say on the unity church. It seems to me culturally Christian. I get the idea being you put all faiths together. It’s a Christian faith of which they worship using the Torah. It’s like this liberal worship is different. Indeed when I walk past the unity church where I live I have my own take on the church itself formerly a people’s rights, politically correct church. Ironically, when you as a member of the public you walk into the church they aren’t interested in telling you about the faith itself what it stands for. What they are actually interested in is saying we accept gays. It’s a church standing for religion so why is it, that of the only interest people that are running the church itself can think to say. I would like to say what I think about the subject of equality marriage in churches. Firstly I think it’s very new to integrate. In terms of same sex couples
marrying. I would like to say what everyone in the world feels but don’t feel they can say, which is I don’t think it’s right not to adhere to uniform code when couples unite. In a white dress to
a certain length such like. I feel that most disrespectful. I actually find it cheap, insulating. Some say pedantic but I feel that’s a important value I have
as Christian. White dresses stand for
    purity.
Going back on my original point which
is in discussing the unity church
practice I think it’s most ashame
society is devaluing traditional hymns, psalms, readings. i would like to say
that church is about reaffirming not only
belief to shared faith, values, with polite
etiquette shown. Churches are becoming very relaxed on this front

in my view. Churches aren’t hang out places they are places to be based on respect, structure, feel good atmosphere as well. It would seem this
is a popular church. I’d like to say that
this is a very informal church with no form of formaility. For example – welcome – please be seated when church services are being run.

    • Carlton Coleman says:

Yes the Unity Church is very informal which is what attracts those people who do not like tradition. They should be able to go somewhere that is not dogmatic. You seem to like dogma so there are churches who want tradition and conservative views. Continue to go to those. However, people such as myself who tend to side more with spiritual philosophy and secularism need places like Unity and Unitarian Universal ism to attend. Get in where you fit in!

    • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

Hello Danny. You used lots of adjectives speaking of Unity. For me, since I am a believer and follower of the Bible and Jesus Christ as my Savior, I will say DEPLORABLE! Anyone who believes the Bible is God’s holy word wouldn’t be able to believe as Unity does because Charles Fillmore changed scripture to fit what he wanted to believe. He had to discount the Bible as only being allegories(stories). Whether you could believe in Unity comes down to the answer to this important question: Is the Bible God’s words, thoughts and message to us, or mans? Unity doesn’t have the right to be called Christians, that is a title only belonging to followers of Jesus Christ as Savior. Unity doesn’t believe Jesus died on the cross for them; in fact, they believe they are responsible for their own Heaven or Hell according to their thought processes. So very sad.😥I pray for them.🙏 It is my duty as a Christian to do so.

  83. Teabag says:

This is a popular faith catering many areas. I just feel the message is a little confusing perhaps.

    • Linda Jolene Garoutte says:

Unity is not a Christian faith in any way, shape or form. To qualify to be called CHRISTian means that you acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. They do not acknowledge Jesus as the Savior….only as “Way-Shower”….meaning He came to show them the way to live in love and peace only, and they believe they such is responsible for his own heaven or hell. I am a born-again believer of Jesus as Savior and the Bible as God’s word, therefore; I could never attend this church. The Holy Spirit within me witness to me that this is a false religion. They accept any religion to be a member and they accept homosexual relationships as ok. When Jesus walked on the earth, He did not cater to any religion, he publicly called out religious leaders ….the Saducees and Pharisees, scolding them for who they were. Unity is a new age religion, thought up by Charles Fillmore to “fit” his theology. Can I tell you there’s nothing new under the sun since Jesus….no new theology. Period! Amen!

      • Carlton Coleman says:

Unity is not a Christian faith. For someone who is now a Secular Humanist and no longer subscribe to any faith, I know as I attended my local Unity center for two years and was a very active member and volunteer there. The all paths lead to God and the pantheistic and metaphysical views eventually lead me to being Agnostic Atheist in my views about God. It is a misleading group that identifies as Christian but does not exclusively follow Christ. There were several Sundays that did not mention any Bible verses at all. It’s really more of a self-help movement than anything else. I enjoyed my time there but my journey through reading different books and listening to Atheists and those who left the Christian faith eventually lead me to denounce all religion as oppose to bringing me back to the Christian faith after I left Southern Baptist.

I pray the Lord will open the eyes of the blind. There is only one way…Jesus said no one comes to the Father except by Me. Jesus Is the way the truth and the life!

  84. Rob Horrocks says:

Yes unity as practiced today is in many ways a shallow new age denomination. I attend it sometimes and I am trying to make changes within it to make people realize that in order to bear the name of Christ one must follow the narrow road of following his teachings. All Christian denominations make the same mistake of following the traditions of men as Jesus warned his disciples All denominations
Are guided by the income tax law which silences them from preaching the full gospel
The Father Jesus obeyed was different from the jealous blood thirsty Jehovah of the Jews
He hates violence and murder. Jesus never participated in violence toward men or animals
Almost all Christians participate in war violence and meat eating. They are part of Satan’s world that Jesus refused to follow
Any Christian who kills any sentiment being is the worst of sinners. Almost all denominational
Christians disrespect the apostles who say to love not the world and those who do do not love the Father.
Worshipping the dead book of the old Testament is idolatry. The word of God is the New Testament which is a relationship in the renewed heart of man with God. The Bible was created by a very cruel ungodly man Constantine and the worldly council of Nicea. It also was created by another cruel homosexual man called King James in 1611.
The Bible is history and like the tree of the knowledge if good and evil is duality and not divinity in action
The new Testament is the law of love put into a saved persons heart and is the word of God
The Bible can be likened to the mark of the beast because it was assembled by 2 beasts
    Constantine and Queen James
They followed Lucifer as does the popes of the Vatican a luciferian cult.
Most Protestant churches today are slowly going back to their scarlet mother church.
The Roman Catholic cult of paganism ; death and murderers of all the saints mentioned in Revelation .
The kettle should not point out the faults of the frying pan because they are both similiar and are in the fire of earthly passions and are still living outside of the garden if God.
Jesus did not want his followers to worship him like Islamic people worship their cruel prophet and their Allah who is just another image of Lucifer. HE wanted them to take up their cross and follow his teachings as given in the beautitudes
Worldly people follow the great following away that John James and Jude warned about.
Christianity as well as Unity are all part of Babylon and the harlot church of Rev 17
All worldly churches are like salt that has lost its flavor or lights put under bushels
Their pastors and priests demand tithes which are only for food and to be given to the levitical priesthood only
Much more could be said and only God knows your heart. The whole purpose is not to be critical of unity or monitheism or Christianity
The purpose of to make one think that maybe religious people are people living in glass houses and that we should seek a Direct relationship with God and not think we are better than other Christians.
All religion has flaws and errors and my beliefs are no better than your beliefs
We all fall short and believing in Allah or Buddha or Jesus won’t save any of us not me or you
Pride ; fear, and delusion are our enemies and yet God will eventually save us all whether religious or atheist we are all made in the image of God and are temporarily lost in pride fear lust hate and ego yet their is hope for all of us . Either all of us or none at all
No one is better than anyone else dear christian

    • Rob Ginn says:

Wow! There was a lot of raw emotion expressed there. Thank you for your post. There are several issues in your post that I would contest, but to do so would only sound as though I was being critical of your views and I certainly do not want to do that. Per the Bible, we are called to love one another as Christ so loved the church.

I believe that the Christian Bible is the ONLY word of our Lord, a roadmap leading to salvation, so I sincerely believe it with all my heart, with all my might and all my soul. That does not mean I understand the deepest meaning of the Word, but the key to anything is FAITH. I have faith that the God of the Bible is a just and honest being in the Spirit, Fleshly Son or Heavenly Father. As I have expressed in previous posts, I would much rather have the faith in believing, only to be found out later that I was wrong, than to NOT believe and find out too late that I was also wrong.

I do not believe that these situations are the same, but I equate the belief in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus harms no one, so what harm is done to believe in Jesus. I hope you appreciate my analogy.

If you care to address your and my points personally, please privately respond. I think you can click on my name to do such. I would welcome hearing from you.

With the love of God the father,

I am a Secular Humanist (Agnostic Atheist). I was raised Southern Baptist since childhood with devout Christian parents. My mom attended church most of the time but my dad was dedicated to the church as a deacon, choir member, and now 11 years as an associate minister. I grew up always being skeptical of the Christian faith and actually rebelled against my father in reference to the church. I am also gay so that made the doctrine even more difficult for me to digest. I swore growing up that I would never follow or proselytize the Christian faith as there was no good reason to do so. None of it made sense from a critical, logical, and reasoning standpoint.

l left the Christian faith almost four years ago and started attending a Unity Church after exploring the New Thought Movement and watching the movie The Secret. What many in this post are saying is true. Unity is a metaphysical, pantheistic, and New Age philosophy. I’ve even thought about becoming a New Thought metaphysical minister as all of the spiritual teachings resonated with me. After awhile though and with more reading, I explored the idea of there not being a God and stop believing in God all together. I went from Christian (although I probably never was) to being a pantheist, and then finally to pure secularism.

The Unity Church is a good spiritual movement. Many Unity Churches have stopped calling themselves a church which is fine since I wanted to get away from the dogmatic approach to Christianity as I’ve always felt disconnected in the church and would much rather be worldly anyway. I also came out during my time at Unity and got engaged. I was suppressing myself while in the Baptist Church and am now able to liberate myself now through my process of being spiritual and now secular.

People should get in where they fit in. There is no universal truth or path for everyone. I had to get away from people who felt that way especially when it is not true! Christians or no religion have the monopoly on morality.

I researched Unity because of statements made by a family member who belongs to Unity. I guess I find it very difficult to understand how you can take the teaching of Jesus found in the Bible, and apply them. But deny he is the son of God, which the same Bible refers to him as such. Other things. I see this family member post all the self help posts on facebook.Yet this person, is always in financial difficulty and gets sick easily. This person said humans will be constantly reincarnated until they become as divine as Jesus, and then could resurrect themselves, as Jesus did himself. OK, if Jesus could resurrect himself, I can’t help but wonder why he didn’t do that before he was flogged and crucified. Also, I saw on their website, that they take from the Bible which is useful to them and interpret them metaphysically. Yes, that bothers me. On one of their sites, I saw that there is no sin that sin is interpreted as self inflicted negativism. I also read how they celebrate Baptism, Lent and more.Maybe it is me (I am analytical) but I just don’t get how you can redefine something to one’s own liking and call it the same name. It is not. Yes, I understand there is more to our brains than we realize, that our brains are neuroplastic, that there is more in the universe than we can see/grasp but……..The family member I am referring to has not let go that her father was an alcoholic, who did not give her what she needed from him. For years she has joined one group, than another. She has sought counseling but doesn’t want to hear what they say, unless it reinforces her beliefs. While I see that Unity talks to love and goodness, it seems to be too “self help”. However, there are a lot of people who need more than self help quotes. We can not love others until we love ourselves.

I just found the New Thought movie on Amazon Prime. Right off the bat the holy spirit in me set off red flags. Eventhough I needed to hear some of it so I can be aware of what’s going on in the world. My professor in my religion class at college told us it doesn’t hurt to hear what the other side is talking about. It doesn’t mean you believe it but keep your self battle ready against the enemy by knowing his ways of manipulating people. I became born again at the age of 9. My dad was a minster and my mom was a great woman of God as well. My dad told me as a child that I would hear about religions like this one (New Thought). I thank the lord for loving me and sending his son in to the world and for being born to parents who knew who God was and had him in their heart and life. Thank you for your comments on this subject matter about such religious groups that try to take God,Jesus and the holy spirit out of the world and replace it with pie in the sky ideology. Please don’t you ever stop doing what God wants you to do. Have a bless day.

I’ll take free thinking positive energy seeking anytime over the hateful, denigrating and destructive nature of man made religious mind control. More human beings have been slaughtered in the name of a loving God than any other reason. This is not Gods will, this is mans will, under the false pretext of the divine. Quote your books written by other men all you want. If you want to be free of the will of man then use the mind God have you and search all faiths for truth rather than concentrating on your single vision which leaves you partially blinded. 97. Wayne Williams says:

The God of Unity Church is “Money”. If you are not on the money train, you will be left behind at the station.

I once told a Unity Minister I was suicidal. His name was Stan Smith in Lakeland, FL. He responded: “Why don’t you go ahead and do it.” I came to Unity in 1984 looking for help with massive depression and despair. All I found from Unity was criticism and attack. If you go to Unity feeling depressed or admit to feeling anything but happy and prosperous, you will be condemned and attacked. I left after 2 years and never went back, and never will.

The wife of Marshall Rosenberg who wrote “Non Violent Communication” told me in 2006 that a nephew of hers committed suicide after going to a Unity Minister for help. He was treated so badly that he lost all hope and killed himself.

Unity preaches prosperity and manifestation all the time. Yet they are the poorest congregation around. Unity is always talking about the next addition to their facility. Yet it never comes because they cannot manifest the money needed. They are all hypocrites and liars.

Stan Smith the minister I mentioned was forced to leave the Unity Church and later filed a law suit trying to get thousands of dollars from the church. My first day at Unity in 1984, I attended a Master Mind group and told the group that their minister was a Con Man. I knew the first day. I was not well received with that comment. This old man was constantly bragging about how wonderful Stan Smith was and defended him. Six years later I ran into the old man in a bar in Lakeland. He was now spewing hate and calling the former minister a Snake. It took him 6 years to see the truth that I discovered in the first 15 minutes during the first service I attended. I went to several Unity Churches during this period. And my opinion has never changed. They are all fake and based on pretending to be happy and rich.

All Unity is about is wealth and money even though very few if any of the congregation have any real wealth.

Unity talks about healing but it only focuses on the body and completely ignores those with mental health problems. Go to Unity admitting you have mental health challenges and expect to be ostracized and condemned. They don’t want you around. They will consider you as a negative plague. The sickest people in body that you will ever come across are those at Unity. Almost all the women come from divorce or broken marriages and now believe they don’t need or want a man. Unity has nothing to do with the love of God or forgiveness and can help no one truly in need.

Spiritual bypassing is rampant within Unity. They are the God of positive thinking which is utterly worthless if you are deeply unhappy and depressed. Depression comes from trauma of some variety or form. You will never find any real healing at Unity. Unity is only for happy, happy Abraham Hicks type of people.

There is no external Devil or Hell waiting for anyone at Unity or any other system of belief. The Devil if it exists is Unity Church. Unity Church attracts the broken, the addicts, divorcees, people with every physical ailment known to man, those in poverty. The dominant true underlying emotion at Unity is suppressed with fake kindness. Everybody wants to hug you when you come in. Yet it is all fake. Unity Church is the ultimate expression of being UNAUTHENTIC.

The tools at Unity Church consist of : Shaming and blaming you for the way you feel, refusing to deal with anything negative, Positivism to the extreme in order to avoid the shadow within each person, blaming you for being depressed. I could go on but I hope you get the picture.

    • Wayne Williams says:

In the next to last paragraph I intended to say that the dominant true underlying emotion at Unity is suppressed rage. I left out the word rage.

  98. Roberr says:

Mainstream Christianity is the true cult, full of brainwashing. “You have to know that you know that you know”, nothing but self brainwashing.

  99. Jack says:

First of all, explain how you think a God of infinite wisdom and love who transcends all space and time is a “he”. Mainstream Christianity talks about God as if God is human, with ego and all the same trappings of anger, punishment, war, destruction, murder, revenge, exclusion, condemnation, torture, etc. And like George Carlin used to say “but he loves you”. God is one thing, infinite love. It doesn’t matter how you get there, just get there. Jesus was a perfect example of how to get there.

    • Wayne Williams says:

And just how was “Jesus” a perfect example of “how to get there”. Christianity that arose after Jesus “supposedly walked and died upon this Earth” has been the source of the bloodiest wars consuming millions of lives in conflict. Jesus was the poorest example of anyone calling themselves The Messiah. Jesus could not even educate his supposed twelve disciples who he was and that he was no greater than they were, and that they to could perform miracles. And Jesus thinks he is going to be an example and a teacher to the whole of mankind? I think not. You might ought to consider staying on the real topic presented by the author which is The Unity Church which is a new age metaphysical church.
