Oprah and Eckhart Tolle’s New Age Revival (Crosstalk America)

Since January 1st 2008, Oprah Winfrey has been offering lessons on the Course in Miracles by New Age author Marianne Williamson on her satellite radio program. Now she is in the midst of a 10 week webcast with New Age author Eckhart Tolle who wrote a book entitled: A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

What are these teachings? Ingrid reads quotes from Tolle that attempt to point people to a divinity within themselves, a concept that is wholly unbiblical. Such quotes expose Tolle for what he really is; a promoter of the New Spirituality, or what in the past has been commonly known as the New Age.

Ingrid then introduces Warren Smith who is an author of books on the New Spirituality. As a former New Ager, his books include: Deceived on Purpose: The New Age Implications of the Purpose Driven Church, The Light that was Dark: From the New Age to Amazing Grace, and Reinventing Jesus Christ–The New Gospel.

Who is Eckhart Tolle? Smith says that Tolle was born in Germany and educated in London. He came to public attention through his book, The Power of Now–A Guide to Enlightenment. Smith noted that this was a slow moving book until Oprah Winfrey announced that it was one of her favorites. That helped catapult the book to the top of the New York Times bestseller list.

This Crosstalk looks at the increased presence of this New Spirituality movement. It’s an influence that is growing due to the ever increasing desperation of the world. This desperation is causing its proponents to speak more boldly about their false belief that humanity must understand the need for a shift in everyone’s consciousness so that we all recognize the Christ within ourselves.

About Gaz Parker

I was born with the ability to see spirit entities. I learned to ignore them for most of my life but during 2004 I had a kind of spiritual awakening so i thought. For years I questioned it until I asked God to show me what this is. God showed me the truth and I realised these spirits are evil, they are demons. Jesus never left me, he love me and he loves you too. My audio testimony can be found here. Contact me here: newagedeception@gmail.com

I’m glad to see that someone besides me sees Oprah for what I’m pretty sure she is. Satan is using her misguided attempts to help people to further his kingdom on Earth. It’s sad more people can’t see this and avoid her rhetoric and suggestions.

When I first entered the non-christian oriented USA business world, I realized I needed to make room to fit all these types of ‘non-oriented to Jesus’ people in my life.

I have looked deeply into the Eckhart Tolle information. You arn’t going to find a nicer person. That being said, yes, it is difficult to realize that Eastern religions/mystic teachings, do not believe Jesus is the son of God. They just refer to him as a spiritual master, a mystic. They really truly to do not have Jesus in their hearts. Eckhart draws heavily on these sources. He believes them, basically and as such, teaches that.

Like anyone who doesn’t follow the lord, they get off track (corrupted) by evil. As does everything eventually, that isn’t blessed by the Lord’s hand.

Whether or not he is purposefully driven to turn people away from Jesus,….I wouldn’t go so far as to say that. Naive…is what I refer to him as (likewise Adyashanti).

And God can forgive them both. Just the way it is.
But like anyone else, it is up to them, to seek him (he is always available).

But what becomes difficult, is when you promote yourself as the ideal person, when in fact, you might be a far worse example, than you possibly imagine. The ego trip alone can keep you from finding the truth of the matter.

Being popular, is one of the many sins of our age. It is difficult emotional state to overcome. I find it amusing that I used Eckhart’s material, to do just that.

So from a Christian’s viewpoint, anything that helps us move closer to the lord is helpful. But it isn’t up to us personally, to try to become popular or important, by seeking such things out. We must watch ourselves therefore, to keep in alignment with God’s plan for us. Feeling like we are following a spiritual teacher, because of what our ego wants (and not God), is something we need to face (and ask forgiveness for).

A difficult path to walk indeed….”Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God”
